This was just emailed to me by a fellow Rver. He has forwarded this not to create fear but rather to create awareness. I have removed all personal email information with the exception of the Mexican from Mazatlan.

Hey Leland, nice picture of you. You may remember taking us and our two friends N*** and D** to the Tiara Sands. last February. How have you been doing? Did you have your fishing tournament?
We have purchased a 5th wheel RV and will be returning to Mexico this winter. We will be crossing the border and heading to the Puerto Vallarta area. Later on this winter we want to come back to Maz and stay the rest of the winter. We love Mazatlan. Maybe we will see you.
Just curious, have you heard of any safety issues with touristas traveling the main highways? There seems to be a lot of hype about it up here in the states.
Take Care,
Spokane

Mr M
I’m doing great here in Mazatlan abit humid but expected, Fishing Tournament my boat didn’t make out the gate first day. Unfortunately the only honest info i could give traveling to Mazatlan is be very careful of federal checkpoint and military check points. I was just hired by the Canadian Consulate to transport a vehicle back to Edmonton AB, Mrs Ammoson was hi-jacked traveling on the Hwy a outbreak of gun fire where she was brazed by a bullet on her head and SUV windows were shot out, Mrs Ammoson is fine after what her and her father and mother witnessed such a horrific ordeal. Please be careful and if the check points do not have markings of federal or military do not stop.

As you can see this email is current and certainly food for thought. Good advice.
thank,s for newest update on travel abit scary!! Take Care
My only concern also is an unauthorized roadblock . Not sure how we would handle it. Hopefully we won’t run into one. We are traveling with 3 or 4 other RV’s unless they change their minds.
