Life on the Isla continues…
Unlike the unfortunate people of Japan life went on as normal yesterday afternoon. The port reopened late afternoon & a few surfers were out. I found out that the one embarcadero to Mazatlan had been totally closed and the second one, the main one, had police on either end to quickly enforce a closure if necessary. The situation was taken very seriously by the Mexican people. There has been very little in the news media re the effect on Mexico but I did manage to find this report re the Baja.
Meanwhile here at Tres Amigos a bunch of neighbors got together to prepare and to savor some fresh lobster.
After boiling it, they split it in two, slathered it in butter and then grilled it. These fresh caught lobster were sold by local fishermen for 50 pesos each, this is $4.08 Canadian or $4.20USD! Life is good here on the Isla.
But it got even better….dinner came to RV2. Two couples were leaving today and rather then a number of people going out, the restaurant came to us last evening.
Such enterprise, instead of serving maybe 16 or 20 at their place, 50 of us were served. A great and fun evening.

Hi Contessa
I am Pattie’s sister. I just wanted to let you know how very much I have enjoyed reading your blog and the fun pictures.
Since we were there it makes me feel like we are still there enjoying the isla.
Keep up the great work and thank you.
Sincerely Joan
The more I look at your posts, the more I think my hubby could live on the Isla! Well, me too!
Well we live here for 5 months at a time and we love it. It is a simple lifestyle but not wanting for anything. I have a friend from Colorado who moved here 2 years again to raise a child here. She doesn’t regret the move at all.
Looks like a great time was had by all and the great Mexican hospitality and food is amazing!
Joan, thank you so much. Stay tuned in for more adventures.
George & Suzie, it was an evening you both would have enjoyed. Had you been here I would have bought some lobster earlier in the day. I needed a chef. For sure next time.
I had hoped to meet you before you head back, but in case that doesn’t happen, thank you so much for your wonderful posts on life on Isla. Paul and I need a relaxing day at the beach soon, I think we will head to Puesto del Sol, our favorite restaurant on Isla. Maybe it will even be warm enough to swim!
Saludos! Nancy
Mucho gracias Nancy! Our favorite restaurant on the Isla is Puesta Del Sol so we shall get together sometime in the next two weeks I hope!! Not sure about the swimming though. Technology is great, I just saw Colin get an award in Culican over the internet!!!!!!! He will be back tomorrow and we are here till the 28th and back again Nov. 1!!
