The disassembly of my garden….

Disassembly is not the correct word.  Nor is deconstruction, which is what I want to use, but that is not right either, so for now disassembly is the best I can come up with!!  Bottom line , we have begun to tear my garden apart…it just breaks my heart.  I have 2 yards in Kelowna (one for the RV  on the lake and one right across the road where our home is ) and many gardens but this is where my heart is.  I truly love my flowers and plants here in Mexico.

This is what it looked like on Nov.1, 2010, the day we arrived.

Somehow it ended up like this....

Now we begin, well the dis-assembly….

These are the plants I have chosen to plant into the ground at the far back side on our new site. I can only hope that they will survive, thrive and not be stolen. True! Many plants seem to disappear over the summer. Of course there is the possibility of hurricanes and other extreme weather but 'nice' plants on the Isla sometimes tend to just walk away!!

It is starting to look very bare. About 12-14 plants were placed in the ground and another 11 plants in pots will be adopted out for the next 7 months, 3 that are already in the ground will be transplanted next November and the rest, mostly annuals, will be given away.

I think it is a huge improvement already!!

I think it is going to look fabulous....wait till you see what I do in November!!

The girls seem to approve. The plan here is for the bougainvillea to cover the wire fence.

What I really look forward to is growing some plumeria plants.  I saw this tree in Mazatlan a few weeks ago and fell in love.

I have been hauling around 2 plumerias in pots for two years and frankly they are simply bald.  It took me four winters to find the plant in Acapulco and after one winter of beautiful fragrant blooms it just shriveled up.  I’m leaving these in pots because I don’t want them to walk away on me.  Perhaps once I plant them in November they will do better.

There has been some growth the past few days; maybe they only grow from April on....no se!!

  1. You have a bit of work getting ready to leave, transplanting and all, hope they will be there when you return.

  2. Very good looking garden! I hope to have one that looks like yours one day.
