Just the other day…
…last Tuesday, while my Dad was having hip replacement surgery I too was laying on a medical table.
This is my third year of having my varicose veins injected as a maintenance procedure. I did have some large & lumpy veins way back but now they are more of a small & even very tiny nature. For me it is a three week event, week one & day one the front of the right leg gets done, the next day the left leg, week two is the back of the legs over a two day period and the third week is ‘touch ups’ all over. The awful part, other than about 25 stinging injections each day is the wearing of the compression stockings. I have to say that I just hate wearing them but it does make a difference in the outcome/outlook!! Four weeks of stockings!!
My Dad is doing well from what I understand. He had some trouble getting over the anesthetic and was in a great deal of pain but seems to be over the worst. I do wish I could even speak with him on the phone…I call the nursing station and ask to have them send him my message. Yes I do have family in Edmonton but Mom is disabled and hasn’t been to the hospital yet but I hope to get a report from someone soon who has actually seen him.

Hi Contessa,
I read your blog from time to time – I don’t usually post comments – but when I saw this, I just had to say I know the feeling! Needles and compression stockings – ugh – but the results are well worth it in the end. I enjoyed reading about your Mexico adventures thru the winter. Now that you’re back home, I’ve gone back and am reading your blog from the beginning. Where you live in Canada – looks so peaceful! Best wishes to you!
