A year ago today…
…I made my very first post on my very first blog. We have travelled for all of our 24 years together and once the computer age caught up with us, I emailed travelogues to family and friends. Between server problems and poor computer connections in Mexico I was often forced to reenter over 100 email addresses over and over due to link failures, never mind uploading all the applicable photos. I decided that my time was more precious and so the blog was born. I emailed everyone and let them choose to read it or not. I have lost some readers who prefer to have an email arrive in their inbox as opposed to checking a blog site daily or now & then. The travelogues only came out every few weeks as opposed to almost daily blog posts.
Somewhere along the way I seem to have picked up several new friends. In one year alone, I have had over 24,200 people check my blog. Thank you readers! I hope I have entertained you along the way as well as passed on some information. It has been a huge learning curve for me and now working with photos I have a much greater appreciation for Colin’s work. There is never a day that I don’t learn something new. At first this blog was meant to keep people in the know of what ‘s up in our lives, hence the title 5C’s Que Pasa.
Who are the 5C’s you ask? There is me, Contessa, my husband Colin, Carmeh who will be eight in August and six year old Caeli and our parrot Cheikka who is a Green-cheeked Amazon. Our names all start with the letter ‘C’ so hence the 5C’s was born. Sometimes we are referred to simply as ‘the C’s’. We have been known as the 3C’s, the 4C’s and then when we adopted Cheikka in Acapulco a few years ago we then became the 5C’s. Unfortunately for tragic personal reasons we had to give Cheikka away last summer but because she is always in our hearts we will remain the 5C’s. Soon one day I will share our parrots’ story with you.
A photo of the 5C’s is on my profile at the right side of the screen.
As you know we are pro Mexico but I do try to show both sides of the story. Last year when I started my blog I primarily portrayed preparing for a 5 month stay in Mexico including safety, cost of insurance & health insurance, etc. and step by step how to get into Mexico at the border and how to cope with RV travel in Mexico, not to mention the difficulties we had reentering the USA this past March. I also posted about our 5 month stay in Mexico and the benefits of living on the Isla. Now we are home, so I will just go with the flow and as things crop up re travel in Mexico I will share that with you. Perhaps because of Colin’s business I tend to gravitate towards many many photos. If you have any specific requests please email me. I know that I have helped many with their decision to RV to Mexico and have been happy to meet with them while in Mexico. Many have emailed and asked about just flying into Mazatlan, I am happy to be there for you, for anything. We have shared details of our home here in Kelowna and I am happy to say that a friend we met in Mazatlan is now moving here to our RV park in Kelowna. Life is good.
One of the rewards of writing a blog are the comments from those who read it. Not just my posts but all bloggers….we all love to get comments! Some days when there are no comments you wonder if you were truly that boring or perhaps even worse. It is not difficult to make a comment, you don’t even have to use your own name. All you have to do is click on the comment button at the bottom of a post and fill in the blanks. The only thing that becomes public is your name (real or not) and what you write as a comment. You don’t always have to agree with a post and sometimes various commenters get a good discussion going. I often but not always will respond to your comment in another comment so be sure to come back and check on the comments later. The only difficult thing to do is the fill out the security code often referred to as the ‘captcha code’. You just copy what you see in the colored box below and then hit the submit comment button. It really is that easy. Be sure to give it a try one day.
Another thing, please feel free to share my blog with others. It isn’t private and if you feel someone would enjoy the read please forward the link to 5C’s Que Pasa. I really enjoying writing this blog and I do hope you get some pleasure by reading it.

Congratulations on the success of your Blog. It can be addictive as you know and fun to do. I started ours slowly in 2006 and played and learned from it. A real bonus is the memories that you are putting down and can go back in time to see what you did with whom and where. Keep up the good work.
Yes Congrats is in order! I have enjoyed reading your posts and I love pictures so that is a plus 🙂 Keep up the good work friend and I look forward to what lies in ahead!
Didn’t make it to Mexico this year but lived vicariously through your blog….Thank you, have a good summer and congrats on a year of posting!
Kathy & MIke, welcome to the comment section and thank you for enjoying Mexico thru us. Do hope you can make it their next season.
Trinidad, glad you enjoy all the photos. Looking forward to catching up with you in Mexico soon.
Marty, so nice to have you a part of my life. Looking forward to our next luncheon in Mazatlan.
George & Suzie, thank you for all your kind thoughts and comments on the past year. We must get together again soon.
I found your link on Nancy’s (Countdown to Mexico) blog. It was so interesting that I went back to the beginning and read almost all the old posts. (I did kind of start skipping over some just in the interest of time, but I still got a good taste of your life in Kelowna, and of course I read every word you wrote in Mexico.)
Great blog and always enjoy pic,s especially the girls.. Susie
Mucho gracias Susie.
