Devastating yet amazing!! UPDATED
IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS NOT TRUE, PLEASE CHECK THE COMMENTS.
A friend sent this to me…..
This picture was found in a camera during cleanup.
This is a fantastic photo!! Amazing that the film was still good – or memory stick. Either one, this really tells the story. Look at how high that wall of water is!!
½ a second before tsunami
This picture was taken on the banks of Sumatra Island (the height of waves was of approx. 32 m = 105 ft).
It was found saved in a digital camera, after the disaster.
We cannot know for sure, but very likely the one who took the picture is not alive any more (it was just a matter of seconds).
Today we can see the last image he/she saw before ending life on Earth!

Amazing shot, one in a life time and what a story behind it…
My first comment on your blog, which I read often and enjoy immensely, and here I’m sounding like a doubting Thomas…this is an amazing picture and story, but the houses and landscaping look suspiciously North American to me!
Look like colin having fun with photoshop again
I remember seeing the statue of liberty in my yard

Well it appears that we might have been ‘deceived’. Colin & I tried to research this photo before using it and found nothing. Yet a young, 11 year old boy on the Isla, reading my blog with his Gramma found this http://www.hoax-slayer.com/tsunami-wave-sumatra.shtml The photo was actually taken in 2002 in Australia of a dust storm. A good lesson for us all, you can’t always believe what you see online.
Ena, thanks for joining in with your comment. When I first looked at the homes I too thought they were not truly Japanese but who am I to argue with such a great story.
Daniel, sorry for the story but it is a great shot anyway.
Robert, yes but the Statue of Liberty really was in your yard!
Still a very cool shot.
Patti, I totally agree with you. Colin did rule out any photoshop work on the photo which is why I ran with it.
That is incredible!!! Wow! Scary sight!
Oh! That makes me feel a little better, haha, but still a disaster did happen 🙁
Yes a cool shot for sure, no matter how it came about.
I wondered too, but it is a cool shot. A good place to check for such things is on Snopes.com. They try to keep up with the latest e-mail hoaxes and separate the truth from the myth.
Yes a very cool shot, maybe a dust storm?? susie
