Dental portrait essay!

This is not for the faint of heart.

This is for those who love going to the dentist and getting a tooth extracted.

Photos and model courtesy Colin Jewall who really really wanted me to post this.  I just had to do it!!

Beware, some of the following photos are simply put….not pleasant.

As part of his effort to address his tinnitus Colin discovered that he had an abscess tooth, which is strange, as this was a root canalled tooth, obviously gone bad.  The root canal had been done over 15 years ago.  Colin had been having some trouble with this particular tooth but nothing could be found until he saw a dental specialist a few weeks ago.  A CAT scan revealed that the tooth was so badly infected that the sinus beneath his eye was close to becoming infected and the tooth needed extract ASAP.  If  it was me I would have said, give me drugs, put me to sleep and wake me when I have a new tooth.  But no not my husband.  You have been warned…..

He actually looks happy...

Pre freezing I presume.

Dr. Townsend and his ornery patient.

I can't watch.....how gross...

You do realize that Colin is taking these photos....

OMG!!! Too much for me!

The tooth was so bad that the 'material' ( as in pus & decay ) had solidified above the tooth.

We aren't sure yet if the removal has helped the tinnitus but it is sure has to improve something in his body! How can one have such stuff in there and not know it. My poor baby! Dr. Townsend said he has never seen anything like it before.

Payment in cookies for the dentist with the sweet tooth!.

Bad teeth can really wreck your health. I have a friend who carried a couple of abcesses for years before they discovered that was what was making her so sick.

  3. Hope all goes better now!
Abscesses can really bring you down and after a few years suffering and struggling with the problem I finally all better now! One abscess led to another then eventually all gone, no tooth aches, no abscess and no teeth anymore. Even my hearing left about the same time, maybe connected to my teeth? So false teeth and hearing aides, even eyeglasses makes life comfortable for me now, think it has something to do with lifestyle and getting older?

  4. GROSS!
    Almost Mexico time!
