D Day!

We have a departure date!!  Finally!  I am so excited.

The plan is to leave here on Sunday, October 23, which happens to be the same date we left last year.  However there will be no 629 mile days, nor any 541 mile days or even 431 mile days.  This year we are going to be reasonable and keep our miles to between 300 to 400 miles per day or perhaps less.

Of course we arrive at our destination a few days later than usual but we just might stay even longer!!  So far we plan to cross the US/Mexican border on November 1st.  Walks on the beach will begin just a few days later.

I still have to update you on our current project but there have been a few computer glitches.  Tomorrow, I promise.

300 to 400 mile days????? I’m keeping our mileage under 200 miles per day. 150 works even better for us. But I know what you mean about being excited about a departure date. We’re headed out on Wednesday – only for a couple of weeks but that works for me.

Sandie….I think we drive a lot further from point A to B than you do, Kelowna to Mazatlan is about 9-10 days of long drives

Elaine….once the date is set the mind becomes so much more relaxed

      Larry…..YUP!!

George….yes but then we stop in one spot for the 5 months

Marty….we will be there at least until April 3 if not longer so book your next set of flights soon. We’ll do lunch at the Plaza Machado.

  4. Good stuff, now you have a plan! Take your time and enjoy the journey, a real long travel day for us might be as much as 300 miles, but then we stop for a week or two.

Bummer, we fly home on Oct. 23! But we’ll be back down there before winter is up. Stay a bit longer-your body will heal better in that wonderful weather.

    oh how exciting for you.

  7. Always nice to have a goal to look forward too. It is so much nicer taking your time, rather than racing down. You can stop and smell the roses as you make your way to Mexico. We don’t normally like to put much more than 200kms a day but when we leave here on Sept. 6 our first few days will be slightly longer days, so we can spend more time in areas that we haven’t been in before.
