The best dinner ever!!

Colin got back from Vancouver about dinner time Friday and brought home some fresh halibut steaks.  I swear they are the very very best we have eaten.  In fact I think dinner last night was the best meal I have had, even in any 5 Star restaurant!

It was still warm at 7PM, like 34.5C!!  Thank goodness we got a BBQ last year.  So we have potatoes wrapped in foil, an onion cut into halves also on the grill in foil, fresh zucchini, thickly cut, marinated in oil, garlic and herbs and then the piece de resistance, the halibut.  I brushed the halibut with a mix of brown sugar, lemon juice, butter, garlic, soy sauce and fresh ground pepper which I had heated foe less tan a minute in the microwave.  Oh and I made a fresh caesar salad.  Each bite was exquisite, honestly, we exclaimed over each bite.  I only hope that we will be able to recreate this meal in Mexico but using 1″ thick dorado steaks!!

Dinner was enhanced by a lovely Pinot Grigio by Cooper Moon, a new wine we have discovered. Interestingly enough the grapes come from here in Kelowna as well as Grimsby, Ontario & Truro, NS

It was the perfect meal and the perfect evening.  It cooled off to about 9.7C making for a great sleep.  Today Colin is off shooting a wedding and the bride is lucky to have another perfect Kelowna day.  Looking forward to a family day tomorrow.

Sandie, we don’t eat like this every night.

Mary, exactly, just like a great meal at he beach on the Isla!!

George, remember we are really new at the BBQ so this is big stuff for us.

Nancy, fresh fish, YUM!! Sorry we won’t see you on the Isla this winter but a visit one year to see all your friends will be nice. Randy’s local friends will miss him. Congratulations on your new home & adventure.

Susie, Colin left Thurs AM and returned Friday PM. He stayed at a hotel, somewhere???

      Elaine, no pots is right!!

That looked delicious….we get to ear a lot of pickeral and bass all summer here….I’m gonna try your marinade next time

Sorry we wont see you this winter in Mexico , we are going to Arizona……Randy and I bought a house there in June and will no longer be RV’ing , but will some year pop down for a visit to Mazatlan and Stone Island.

We realy enjoyed our time in Mexico , but the home prices were something we couldn’t pass up , and we enjoy the Arizona desert and mountains and golfing.

If you travel anywhere near Phoenix , look us up and stop by for a day or so , I have a empty house to decorate and furnish , but will have Patty and Mari to assist me some this winter , since they are staying in Arizona this winter as well.

Safe travels and keep up the postings , I enjoy your adventures

Whow Colin left for Van. at 4am came back and barbecued a yummy Halibut dinner, without a cat nap? Our weather has been wonderful lately but its going to gone soon, I’am starting to think about my list for Maz.. If Ariz. had a Ocean I’D love it there but I find the air really dries out the skin, don’t need any help there, but prices are very cheap!!
