Cash or credit??????
It is not even the start of the exodus down south to Mexico and already there are problems.
As I explained in this post you now need to make a deposit on your vehicle, not your RV but your towed vehicle or the truck you are towing your RV with. There has been some speculation as to the deposit being returned. This RV.net forum post discusses some of the problems. I have had a comment on my blog from someone about their deposit not being refunded.
From the first day that this new rule was announced I have stated that cash is the way to go. So for those of you heading south this season be sure you have the right amount of pesos or US dollars to pay your deposit. Don’t expect the Banjercito to have change for you.

Sounds like good info to me, but getting more expensive and to go to Mexico thou.
George, it is not more expensive, just inconvenient. You do get your deposit back when you leave.
Elaine, if you read the link to my June post you will see the prices, but not too much in my opinion. Certainly worth being able to be on the ocean in my RV.
I would also consider the ‘cash’ especially if they don’t return it..I’m very careful who I give my credit card number to…is the deposit costly? Hope your doing well!!
Elaine
I don’t really have a problem with the deposit. It is only $200 for our old Honda and I am sure we will get it back when we leave. They get to keep my money for six months, paying zero interest which is only about $1 less than my bank would pay me if they had kept it for me. Maybe I will buy one less cervesa to make up for it. Or maybe not…
Croft….Our thoughts exactly! I’ll buy you that bottle of cerveza myself.
