Weekend visitors!

Right along with the very cool temperatures arrived friends Terri & Mike.  They are in the area doing research for a book they are updating.  We met this couple several years ago while RVing in Mexico.  I guess you could say we knew them before we met them.  How so you ask?

Mike & Terri Church are the authors of several travel books.  They have written a book which has become known as the bible of Mexican RVing.  We heard of the book, bought it and have used it extensively over the years.  It is now in it’s 4th edition.  We originally met them several years ago in Acapulco and have seen them a few times this past year.  Right now they are working on the third edition of Pacific Northwest Camping Destinations. Their website, Rolling Homes Press has all the information about their books, as well as a new Facebook page they have recently started.  This is a great way to keep abreast of where they are and what the latest news is.  These books are a great help to any RVer, whether travelling to Alaska, within the USA, Mexico and even Europe.

As Terri & Mike are always on the road somewhere in world we keep in touch via the internet, and now Facebook, although we personally don’t do Facebook I can still read where they are and the que pasas.  After a quick tour of Holiday Park Resort ( after all they are researching this area right now ) in the chilly wind and overcast sky we settled in to do some serious wine tasting.

Fortunately Mike is a good supervisor and the meal got to the table in perfect condition.

We chatted before, during and afterwards....

RVing was one of our topics and Mike & Terri believe that we will see more RVers this winter in Mexico.  They have been doing seminars all summer at various rallies in the US and say that the number of people asking about Mexico is way up.  The previous year inquiries, were much less.  Starting this Thursday they will be at the Snowbird RV Show in Abbotsford, B.C.  This will give all the BC RVers a chance to meet Terri & Mike and ask their own questions.

We discussed many things but focused on India.  Colin and I have been there twice and Terri & Mike are heading there in November.  Suddenly we had this huge urge to go meet them in Delhi but managed to suppress ourselves.  We still are heading to Mexico.  It was a delightful evening and the hours passed too quickly.  We never even got around to solving the worlds problems!!

Adios amigos! Sorry we won't be India or Paris with you but we'll catch up in Mexico or Arizona in 2012! Viaje seguro!

Fortunately our weather is back to sun and warmer temperatures so the Church’s will have great conditions for their last few days here in the Okanagan.  One thing I forgot to mention is that their website has a link for travel updates.  This is great because you are always able to get the latest information.  It was a great visit but now we are back to work, work work…..

Have several of their books and went to the Southwest Destinations seminar at Escapade a couple of weeks ago. They really do an excellent job.

Mary is right, Contessa, you do look wonderful! You’re recovering well-you’ll be ready to enjoy Mazatlan. BTW-tonight PBS aired “Mexico-the Royal Tour” with President Felipe Calderon as the tour guide. They didn’t make it to Mazatlan-they did get as far as Jalisco and the Baja-but President Calderon introduced us to new views of a wonderful country. I’ll look for the link and e-mail it to you.

What a blessing. To have great food and good company to share it with. How neat to share our Holiday Park with them.
