Stone Island and change….

…good or bad is all in how you perceive it.  We have been wondering if this would actually come to be and it seems that it has begun.

The future of the Isla. Noroeste file photo.

The first phase of the $120 million dollar Isla Amaitlan Resort has begun.  Grading machines have begun clearing the first two hectares.  Now if only someone would ask them to get the road completed by November 1st.

Thanks to Maureen  Dietrich for the article in The Mazatlan Messenger.  Read the complete article with details here.

The hidden treasure has been discovered! Good or bad-we shall see….

  2. Seems kinda sad to develop a naturally beautiful setting and add so many more people to the equation, more people, more money, more crime. Time will tell.

I agree, it is sad to see our little part of paradise being discovered by others. Yet, hopefully it will bring both employment and needed tourist dollars to the Isla and to Mazatlan.

I have to agree with Patti, the area needs a boost to their economy. Yes it will be sad in a way to have more people on the Isla but there are miles and miles of empty beach, room enough for everyone and it will wonderful to see the restaurants full again.

I agree employment is important, but really hope its not overdone and its still abit of our paradise!!I’ve tried to do a reservation at Hotel Maria Coral for Jan4-14th, it’s saying no availability, maybe full of workers or??!!

That is strange Susie, maybe try calling them. I doubt that the workers would stay at the hotel, most likely workers from the Isla or even Maz using the panga.
