Hunting day + + + !

Yesterday, Wednesday the 16th, started out innocent out enough!

...a lovely hour long family walk during which we rescued several starfish. Back to the ocean.

These sting rays have been washing up on the beach the last few mornings. We did not rescue them.

Then the girls hunted down a crab.

Caeli says "it's all mine!".

Carmeh is not so happy. " I did all the digging." she says.

Then we get home to find we had a visitor.  It had left it’s calling card all through our dishes and drawers, etc. in the kitchen.  So Colin set a trap, well actually he set five.

This little critter was caught within an hour! He was muy gordo!

So you have to ask, who’s on vacation?

Not us ~ everyday we think it will be tomorrow!

Not the mice ~ they don’t have days off or happy hours!

Not the ants ~ same as the mice!

Not the spiders ~ likewise!

Once we dealt with the mouse situation we discovered that we had an ant situation!!!!!!!!

Ants in the pantry, ants in the bathroom, ants in the kitchen, and on the walls and all over the RV dash.  Carumba!!!

While I washed out cupboards and dishes, Colin crawled under the RV and liberally applied vaseline all around the tires, the jacks and the back flap.  We don’t use the usual poisons because of the dogs plus if the situation can be handled in a ‘green way ‘ why use chemicals!!

Meanwhile all day Colin was dealing with the effects of a spider bite he had recvieved while asleep and the girls were dealing with a variuety of insect bites, welts and sores from licking their various itches.  I just gave all three of them a Claritin.  No more scratching.  That was all before 2:00PM!!!  Fortunately Colin was about to receive a massage and I was to relax and read.

About 2:30PM our palapa workers showed up with the new beam. It fit but what a job they had raising it. We soon had a crowd watching the event. Colin missed it all.

About 5PM we had to leave for some urgent errands.  We were surprised to see our fellows still hard at it after the sun had set.

I don’t think my words and photos are in the right places for today’s post…..but hey at least you have a good story to read.

We are giving up hunting, one day was more than enough:)

Marty……We use a product inside called Ant B Gone, one drop is all we need on a counter top, but for the outside we just vaseline as it works!

Connie….2 dogs are enough but thanks for the cat thought.

Pete…..so nice to hear from you two. So are you driving your RV down or flying? Would be nice to see you again!

Mary…oops I mean Cinderella, would you like to borrow some trapos?

George…….we so need to sit still and do nada. Sunday will be our day of rest and the beginning of the real vacation.

Susie…..thanks, we are very happy with the quality of the work.

Can you find Terro at Home Depot or Walmart there? Terro is my staple for getting rid of ants. It’s just sugar syrup mixed with Borax but boy it does a number on the ants, especially the tiny sugar ants that seem to be everywhere down there. (And here for that matter!)

  3. Connie in PA says:

You need a cat for the mice and like Marty said above Terro for the ants – we have and use both! Don’t worry – once the work is done you can V A C A T I O N in the wintertime!
