Serious stuff!

I thought that once we had packed up the house and moved into the RV that life would become simpler.  Not so.

With no power we are relying on our propane for heat, the fridge, to heat water and of course to cook. No wonder that we were quickly getting close to the bottom of the tank, especially with this nasty weather. Colin ran outside in his socks yesterday out on the street to flag down this passing truck. He was in his Mexico thinking plane of mind.

The propane trucks only service the large propane tanks at the sites here for those of us who live here. We do have an account but right now no large tank yet on this site but the fellow listened to our sob story and kindly helped us out. Obviosuly it was not an easy task, you can see his blue arm under the slide out. He was well compensated for his effort.

Meanwhile the lake continues to rise. It is now up 36 inches...well that was yesterday afternoon.

With careful calculations Colin figures it can rise another 9 inches before we have to start doing something.

On the plus side we went to Home Depot to special order 2 pocket doors for $1000.00 but found they didn’t have enough information for us to make that kind of investment sight unseen so we settled on two others for $440.00 which will do just fine.  The saved money will be put to use in another area where we are over budget. A little give and take.

The floor is complete on our new place with walls perhaps going up this week.

Carmeh managed to find a bit of sun on the only day we have had sun. Forecast is more rains and showers.

We had to deal with intermittent internet yesterday and phone service.  Repair tech comes tomorrow.  Meanwhile today we get to have a meeting with the crack cement guy!  Should be fun!

Just checked….lake up one inch this morning:(

Good luck! We are headed to Great Falls, MT this weekend to celebrate Sydney’s birthday. I hate that we will be away from home with the dogs-they’re going to their favorite kennel-because they keep our yard free of pests like gophers and rabbits. Not much is up yet, so hopefully we’ll be okay. The neighbor lady was feeding the rabbits and now we have an infestation of cottontails!

Marty……those rabbits do multiply quickly. We use to have them all over the park here but over the past few years they are being caught and returned to the wild. have a fun time in Great falls.

George….it was great getting the propane especially with a forecast of rain for the next week. Don;t think I would like being snowed in, glad you survived!!

Bob….you got it exactly right….the tip was worth not packing up and moving.

Sandie…never saw that commercial….maybe I can find it online. Sounds cute.

Kevin…yes now I remember your months in the wet Maritimes, depressing indeed. Sun is what makes us tick!

  2. Nice to get home delivery for your propane, we have only needed it once, got snowed in at the farm with sub zero weather in 2007. But could find none available, so hooked up many BBQ tanks for a couple weeks.

Whoa. Propane Dude is a trooper. Mind you, a big fat tip never hurt. Heaps better than pulling in slides, packing up and heading off to the nearest filling station, wherever that might be.
Keep an eye on that lake!

Hope your water quits rising soon. I keep thinking about that commercial where the doxie is floating away on a cushion. They sure do love that sunshine stuff.

  5. Sure hope your weather improves shortly and that you don’t run the risk of flooding. That wouldn’t be any fun. It sounds like you are having weather similar to what we had last year around this time. Depressing to say the least.
