Changes are happening….finally!

Sometimes I long for days where I could just sit all day and do nothing….however it seems that is not a part of my life.  Perhaps a few hours here and there on la Isla.  You have no idea how much I am looking forward to Mexico this fall.

The house is coming along just fine.  In fact it seems to have grown wings and is self building.  Lots of changes…

All of the wall on the right will be removed and joined to our patio room making a great room lake front.

Welcome to my bedroom....this will be street side.

The lake has decided to stabilize and has even dropped 1/2 inch.  A very good change indeed.  We still have a 30% chance of showers today and then three days of sun and heat.  I am so looking forward to not using the furnace.  yes, here we are mid June in the Okanagan and using a furnace!!!  That is not a good change and hopefully not a peek into our future.  It will take several weeks for the lake to receed and then we will have a huge mess of debris to clean up but at least we averted flooding.

What have we here….could it possibly be the biggest change of them all….

What are they looking at? Yes...our new inverter/charger control panel. We have electricity for a mere $2400.00 including tax! That is fine with us, the RV has served us well over the years. Now what really frosted my socks ( well I seldom wear any ~ so I guess frosted my toes ) is that this RV Tech said 'I just found out that you could have electricity all along if I had bypassed XYZ and connected ABC'. So why didn't you?????

Twenty days with no electricity because he didn’t know his job!!!  The worst of it was that he just laughed it off!  Grrrrrrrrrrr!

The verdict is still out on my glasses, will I get them today?  Wish I knew.  Meanwhile good things happening in the income from my wee business as I like to call it.  I am up to $706.13 profit in just 18 days. Looks like this is going to be a big boost to our income over the winter months when we don’t actually have an income.

Not a clear photo because the wind was buffeting me but this is what we dealt with over this past weekend, whitecaps, winds gusting to 50 and splashing on the patio.

Yes that is fresh snow up on Little White. Living on the lake is quite different but interesting.

Some people just don’t know enough to use the brains they were given. Bad enough that he didn’t know his job but beyond stupid that he laughed about it. Does he have any idea how much business this could lose him?? Of course—not.

And that kids, is precisely why I prefer not to let trades people into my house. Whether it’s the actual house, apartment or RV, you know what I mean.
I even recall the mechanic that we have back in Canada (pretty much the only one in North America whom we trust) telling me once, “Don’t let anyone under the hood”, when it came to working on one of our cars. He knew.

The days of setting the bar high for those wishing to get into a trade are somewhat over I’m afraid.
Even here in Europe, where it used to be that trades people were highly trained and respected, they’re now all coming in from Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. (I’m only speaking of Austria of course) And that’s because they’ll settle for lower pay!
Anyway, sorry to start a bit of a rant on your comment thingy.
    Lo siento.

But hey, the water is going down, it’s bound to get warmer, and before you know it your new digs will arrive.

    It’s all good.

  4. Progress is being made, the house growing by leaps and bounds, you have electricity and the water level is receding.
