Que pasa!
The wildfire was contained at about 10 hectares. It was a Rank 2 and they had air tankers laying retardant, two helicopters dumping water ( so nice to be living in Lake Country ) and bulldozers on site. Since the huge fire here in Kelowna nine years ago people move fast when a fire is spotted.
I have a confession. I love my new house, it is hard to believe that it will one day be finished and ours to live in. It is gorgeous, many parts that are coming together are even better than we imagined. Colin & I are both exhausted, we really had no idea that we would have to be on site so much, directing, motivating and just making sure things are being done to our standards. Plus many very last minute things have come up that require onsite decisions and changes. We are still aiming for end of August completion with movers booked for September 4th.
Today we have the add a room crew, the plumber, the electrician, the window guys, Adriatic Granite again ( touch ups we saw that were needed after they left), the kitchen backsplash worker and whoever else is scheduled that I might have forgot.

So many times while building I have made suggestions as to how something should be done and DH did not listen. When reminded he would say and I quote – why didn’t you tell me so I learned to get his undivided attention and then have me tell him later that my idea was a good one. I feel your pain! lol
Sandy…..I still find it tough to get his undivided attention:) Great idea though!
Susie….I had no idea it would be this involved. The sink is on its way from Scotland and is being opened and checked before being shipped to the next location.
Zoe….thanks…just what we planned. We may not be in the water people or boating folk but we sure do love to be beside it. Now it will be hard to leave and head to the Isla. NOT!!!
Jannose…..hopefully there will more to show in the inside by then.
Longdog….yes we do plan on having the neighbors in. FYI, we are taking the girls over every day for a short while and they are slowly getting use to the new place. So many changes for them this year.
George….I can hardly wait till it is done.
It is a huge job keeping subs on track and cleaning up behind them, could never figure out why that wasn’t part of the contract! It,s looking good, where is the sink now??
Oops s/b HIM tell me later………
What a fabulous view!!! So serene and lovely. You have the ocean here, and the lake there; hard to beat.
Looks like everything is coming together! Can’t wait to see it on Sunday.
It’s great; hope the neighbors are still friends when it gets done. It’s hard on them to have all the commotion too but there isn’t anything else that can be done. Maybe a special party just for close neighbors when it’s done?
The joys of building a new house, built only one new one in 1970, all my other 10 houses were renovations that I did 90 % on the work myself, much easier that way.
Good luck with it all coming together.
It will be nice when it is done..
Love your add on room – all the windows – what a view! We live by water here and at home – so relaxing! It’s alot of work but it will be so wonderful in the end!
