Could be worse, I guess!
Calgary is getting snow showers and we have blue sky and sunshine. It was down to -5C last night with the windchill but we are back up to 14C today. Truly a perfect autumn day.
So yesterday the fireplace never got set up. The installer discovered that the pieces he needed ( if you remember the $350.00 plus that we spent with George, the first gas fitter, on parts that are not acceptable to #2 gas fitter and are not returnable ) have to be special ordered. Not only do they have to be special ordered from Quebec and from Ontario they actually need to be manufactured! Wait time, 2 -3 weeks, plus delivery and then the install. Needless to say that is not acceptable to me. After much back and forth this morning with a variety of people, me who knows nothing about installing and venting a propane fireplace found the parts in stock in Kamloops, just a few hours away. They will be delivered tomorrow!! I do good work if I say so myself! Unfortunately the gas fitter is now booked till next Thursday, October 11th. I told them “not acceptable”!! They will get back to me tomorrow.
The good news is that the stained glass window came in and it is fabulous, more that we could have imaged.
Bonus day today, no trades at all!!

Fabulous stained glass window. How long did it take the artist to complete. Did you have a hand in the actual design? Yet another well done! Ken and Margot
Ken….we love it also…..we commissioned it in May and it took till now. We did send him some photos of the type of heron we liked, he chose this one over a blue heron, asked for certain things but the plumeria was mandatory…..he added a great deal of his artistic appeal. the one thing we learned while working with him is that he is not always happy with a piece he made. He loves this one.
Ken….the mermaid is extra!!
Bonnie….thank you.
Connie….I was then:( I will be again:))
Marty….what a difference a window makes!!
George….actually I have to get use to the tub!
danshula….mille gracias
Susie….mucho dinero but we love it.
Nancy…we may be delayed till mid Nov., not sure yet…..but I do need the Isla to relax.
Kevin & Ruth….you are the only ones who noticed. We just could not have the beige vinyl window frame so we let our wood guy do this thing.
PS: Did he install the mermaid in the bath? KenB
Oh it’s beautiful!!! What a wonderful addition next to a bathtub.
Love, love, love the stained glass window – so perfect – and you look so relaxed!
Now you can have a little privacy! It really is beautiful.
Things sure are coming together, the stained glass looks awesome. Enjoy the tub while you can, you are going to miss it while on the Isla!
Fantastic glass windows and great ambiance.
Yes its beautiful, wonderful for a bathroom, do I dare ask how much?? Enjoy !!!
I just caught up on several weeks of blog posts – wow, you have had quite a time of it lately! You’ll be glad to stretch out in your hammock on Isla I bet! How delayed do you think you’ll be coming down this year?
Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Your stained glass window looks beautiful. I love the way it looks like a framed picture in one room and a stained window in the bathroom.
Gorgeous stained glass and the mermaid looks pretty good too! lol
Longdog….that window is that highlight of this place and will always remind of Mexico. I just love that tub, perfect for relaxing in.
