Sunday was a blur of things….
First off don’t ever leave home without your camera. We missed so very many photo ops yesterday. The first occurred while Colin was at the far end of the beach with the girls. Suddenly a puppy appeared and attached itself to him and the girls, they all played together. Now Colin was beginning to wonder how he would be able to stop the puppy from coming home with him when it went and attached itself to another walker who started to gently kick it away, he was not interested. Meanwhile a Colorado couple who spend the winter here in the colonia appeared with their 3 dogs and went and rescued the puppy. It was about that time that Colin saw Pierre running along the beach. Pierre was not here last season but when he is here he works hard to help the Isla as his expense. Pierre mentioned to Colin that there was a box just up from the water that held 4 other puppies:( They had been abandoned. Fortunately the Colorado couple who love dogs took all five away with them. We will have to check in with them to see what their intentions are.
On his way back home I went out to the beach to meet them and took a stroll with my family along the shore. We didn’t get far when we met Diego! Diego, his wife Carla whom we did not meet and their sweet very young daughter Ciela had just arrived 2 days earlier. He pointed out their home, just a block off the beach, a huge lovely white house. Ciela was fascinated with our dogs who were not so fascinated by her. I explained to Diego that most Mexican kids like to pull the dogs tails and so the dogs do not like children. He than explained it to her in English. We asked if he lived here and he said no, they live in Canada!! In fact they had just moved from Kelowna which is where we live, to Winnipeg which is where Colin’s family lives! A very small world indeed. Diego and his family are here for 3-4 months so we will be getting to know him better and find out how he came to live in our town of Kelowna, B.C.
Then the plant man came and of course I just had to buy more plants! I think I have over 65 planted plants never mind the potted ones. I so love my garden here. I may give up gardening at home as here there is so much variety and I have the time. But then I would miss my roses.
I really could have bought many many more but stopped at two!!
Then Carlos came to the door. No not Carlos the iguana but a very real human who wanted me to take him door to door to have the rvers buy tickets to a ballet performance he was arranging for tonight as a fund raiser. 50 % to his campaign for King of Joy for Carnivale 2013 and 50% to children with cancer in Mazatlan. I suggested he return at 3:30PM when we would all be together.
You just never know what is going to drive past next.
The day just seemed to pass in such a fashion. Mid afternoon we got the urge. Yes we finally got the urge to start with the Christmas decorating.
Of course that made us about 25 minutes late for the afternoon wine tasting happening at the other end of RV1.
It was a red wine tasting event provided at no charge by the 4 hosts. We just all brought a few appetizers to share. Thanks Robyn ( shown here as the server ) and his wife Peggy from Washington State and Bob & Marjorie from Ontario, BC. I am a white wine drinker so I missed out on the $40.00 bottles sampled. It was a fantastic party! Thanks folks.
The party was well attended from both the RV parks except for a few die hard sports fans. Marjorie on the right.
....and yes Carlos came. Here I am speaking Spanish, French and English all at once. I had to be sure everyone knew why he was there. In the end no one purchased tickets to his ballet tonight as most everyone was heading out to a Posada on the Isla tonight. Instead most gave some pesos as donation and everyone was happy.
Then came the most unusual sunset and I had no camera so I just sat back and enjoyed the beauty of where we were. Colin came and went as is his style. Caeli at one point snuck out of our yard and tried to mooch some food. She was soon sent home. Not me. I stayed till dark and then once I got home made us a fabulous dinner. Our movie never did happen as we had a visitor who needed our internet. She had just received word of the death of a very close friend. So very sad. She made her calls, then we sat and shared some vino and hugs. Home for her and bed for me. What a day!

Longdog….there is a caretaker on site whom we give a few hundred pesos to and he is sure they are cared for. If you rent the same same site for at least 3 months and prepay a one month deposit in Feb. for next season it it considered your site! You can make any improvements you like. This year all was in good shape except a few hibiscus and they are 40 or so pesos each!!!
Who takes care of all the plants when you are not on the Isla? And do you lease that particular spot since you put up the cover?
