Long weekend in Mexico

I sat, read and relaxed.

Today everyone has the day off in celebration of the birthday of Benito Juárez García, the first indigenous President of Mexico.  The weather was warm for the most part and it was a fun beach type of weekend.  Lots of action and just fun to sit and watch the world go by.

I was still in bed when Colin caught up with some fishermen just out front about 7:00AM.

This guy was looking for fish also.

At one point on Sautrday the fog came in and quickly cooled things down but it left soon after.

...a wee bit of RV repair. Our electric hot water heater element was fried and John just happened to have a rebuilt spare one which he kindly installed. Then he and Deb had us over for appies. No photos, just too busy visiting. Would you look at that wax job on the coach.

Sunset booze cruise. We have never seen this here before.

Do you remember last March when we had the huge trucks climbing Goat Island.  You have to read my blog post to get a feel for what that weekend was like.  We were told it would happen again this weekend.  We saw a few vehicles come done the beach late Saturday evening and the Pacifico beer tents were put up.  Several people set up tents on the beach for the night but yesterday morning we found out that the event was cancelled.  Someone ( was it here on the Isla os an official from Mazatlan ) refused to allow the trucks to climb the mountain citing too much permanent damage.  These photos show it all from what happened last year.  So this year they went to Villa Union for their fun but many did come back to spend Sunday afternoon on the beach.

A Sunday afternoon beach drive.

Lots of beach vendors, some making more sales than others.

The fellow on the bottom right was fishing with a rod when this pleasure boat pulled up and tried to anchor. Meanwhile you can catch a banana boat roaring past on the top right. Lots of water activity.

If you look closely at the above photo you can see a white truck just at the base of Goat Mountain.  That belongs to Tim, an avid fisherman from RV2, he can often be found fishing off the rocks in that area.  Sadly he and Cheryl headed North today.  Adios and safe travels.

Was it really that warm? Did the fellow in the boat have to sit under and umbrella?

The girls both got a Sunday makeover, toes dremmelled, body brushed, teeth brushed and a bath. Now they smell like Johnnson's Baby Shampoo.

…and that was just Saturday and Sunday!  I wonder what the holiday Monday will bring.

  1. Nothing like relaxing and watching the world go by on the beach enjoying the weather.
