Good news, bad news and possibly, worse news
The good news is that both Colin and I found some clothes. We had tried all of the big stores to no avail and decided to hit Kohl’s. Bingo!! Everything was on sale and there were some very very nice things. I have never shopped at a Kohl’s before and will try it again. Best part is that for every $50.00 spent we received a cash card to be used between April 18th and May 1st and we just happen to be overnighting near a Kohl’s on April 18 and have $50.00 to spend! Great deal. I was also able to pick up a few gluten free frozen meals which will get me thru the next few days.
The bad news is that as we were leaving Yuma about 2PM Colin heard a strange sound coming from somewhere in the RV. Being as analytical as he is, he eliminated everything but the tires. He stopped twice and checked them but everything seemed fine but the sound was still there. So he slowed the RV to 55MPH just in case and we drove into Quartzite. Fortunately there is a truck tire shop there and we went in for an assessment. Two guys came out and looked at all of the RV tires and quickly determined that the front right tire was wearing unevenly, likely due to the ball joints. We were due to have those ball joints redone this year. We should have done them last year but instead we built a new house. Cost is likely around $3000.00 for just the parts. Then you add in the labour and two new RV tires and there you have the bad news. We are still able to drive home as we are but will need to keep checking the tire tread. We could put our spare tire on but the ball joints will only wreck that tire also.
There are very few people camped here, I guess it is just too hot for them plus most snowbirds have headed home. We did run the generator to cool down the inside. The girls seemed happy just hunting with their eyes which was a good thing as we were worried about snakes.
Now for the possibly worse news. We noticed a few days ago that Carmeh has a lump on her right side just behind her shoulder. It seems to us that is has doubled in size in the last day. We hope that it is just inflammation from a fall ( that we don’t know about ) but I don’t think so. It is a soft lump and she does not seem concerned when I touch or push it. Needless to say we will be keeping a very close eye on this new development.
Today our plan is to head into Lake Havasu City ( you can see the map above, not a long drive ) to do a few things on the list and then to find another BLM campsite for the night. the forecast for LHC is 98F today.

OMG, RV problems are bad enough but the dachsie news is even more nerve-wracking. I hope you can make it home with the RV problems as it is easier to deal with once home. I wonder if Carmeh could have a bite of some kind that is infected. Poor baby.
You should have asked me where to shop. I would have told you about Kolhs. Plus Marshalls and Ross’s are also good stores to shop at. Hope Carmeh is alright. Drive safe.
The fact that the lump is soft says to me that it’s not cancer, but I’m no doctor or vet. Wonder if it’s a ganglion cyst.
Never, ever an uneventful trip with an RV. Our doxies both have lumps – soft ones that move when I miss on them and the vet told us they were nothing to worry about. In fact Scooter has three of them. So hopefully that is all it is.
Kohl’s is far and away Sylvia’s favourite store in the US. The funny thing is she didn’t get there once this trip, as we were too busy having fun to do any serious shopping. We hope things work out OK with the RV and the pup.
Hope Carmeh is alright and all goes well. I think I would be getting that ball joint fixed sooner than later, for safety sake.
