Tea versus Coffee

Which do you prefer?

Now that I am off coffee ( for only a wee while I hope ) I am finding herbal tea not so bad.  It use to me me sick at the stomach before.  Do you think I could get away with decaf coffee?

We are in the midst of 1.5 days of heavy rain and I will have to brave the elements to go buy some tea.  We have even had a severe rainfall warning posted.  One of our neighbours is sand bagging his home as the rain is running down the street right into his property. The good news it that our roof is in perfect condition and not a drop of water under the house. Thank you,  Black Mountain Sunrooms.  One thing we don’t have to worry about right now is watering the new tree or the flower pots.  Hmm, do you think a tree can get too much water.  Likely as then the roots will rot.

I would like you to meet Colin’s ( no not mine ) banana tree.

We picked it up from the nursery in early May and the girls barely had space in the back of the car.

Once home it fit into the corner very nicely and seemed to add the perfect amount of greenery.

It is growing like a weed. We have had to shove the bench in so the tree has more space to spread out.

It is definitely giving us the greenery.

We do have the option of returning the tree to the nursery and paying them to look after it during the winter.  It is a great idea but we said no.  It is not the cost of wintering the tree in the nursery but more the fact that it will be even bigger.  No , Colin says he will just buy a new one next May.

We had a banana tree when we lived in VA that was by our pool. In the Fall of the year we would cut it back and let it go dormant for the winter moving it to the basement. In the Spring bring it out and it would grow all summer – it lasted for many years. Another subject, we are traveling in Eastern Canada and there are mucho, mucho, mucho vineyards. Do you like any of the wines from Eastern Canada?

Sandy….Thanks for your blog comment. Very interesting about your banana tree. We were thinking of just getting rid of it. How far down do you think it needs to be cut down? Also how cold was it in your basement? We turn the heat down to about 45F when we head to Mexico, that is the lowest our furnace goes. Do you think that would work? Does it need to be watered?

Wish I was with you travelling. Too much happening here for me. I am looking forward to going in for surgery on Thursday for a rest ;))

Croft…..and you are always so very very polite.

George…that is all I drink, 1 -2 cups. Then lots of water.

As to the wine I have not had any Eastern wines, I think they keep them all there rather than ship them out.

      Enjoy your travels.

I prefer both coffee and regular tea, with caffeine, but now only about two cups a day, down from 8 to 10.
If I can’t have caffeine will just drink water.
Thats gonna be one huge tree.
