Que pasa?

Time just keeps moving, it doesn’t stop for anything or anyone.  Yesterday somehow passed me by.  The good news is that our temperatures have dropped down to 29 C and we can just leave our windows open.  We are not fond of using A/C.  Which was fine until shortly after 8PM last night when someone came to the screen door and ‘asked’ for “Contesssa??!!!”  What the heck!  I was not expecting anyone and just about jumped out of my skin.  Colin was out for 30 minutes and so I hobbled my walker to the door ( dressed in my nightie of course ).   Turns out that this lady and her husband wanted a tour of our home before they met the builder today.  They are thinking of building a home like ours.  I don’t mind giving tours of our place when they properly set up by either the builder or the park sales office but not mere days after surgery and not at night to people I have never met before.

By the way, our stair railings were never installed before I went into surgery. What you see here is what someone else ( who Colin hired ) installed for us just 20 minutes before Colin left to pick me up at the hospital to bring me back home. There was no way I could get into the house without railings.

Colin had given this fellow specific instructions and that did not include a railing that was 48 inches high that I could not reach.  So apparently with some neighbors helping a second lower hand rail was installed.  By the way the original fellow we hired promised that we would have properly installed railings pre surgery.

Not fancy but it got the job done. In fact I have been up and down twice now. No slivers so far.

Things are a bit unsettled in Edmonton with Mom at the hospital but with a few more phone calls it should soon be sorted out.  She is doing very well considering.  No one thought she would live this long but the medical people didn’t realize that this has been her normal for a few years now, lots of morphine, lungs congested and eating at risk.  Dad brought her in a single yellow rose yesterday and she acknowledged that it was symbolic of their first date.  For close to 63 years he has been giving her yellow roses.  Very sweet.

Before I forget again…..Happy July 4th to all my American friends and blog family.

Yikes Contessa – You’re having quite the bad time of it. I hope you heal quickly and your mom improves so you can put this nightmarish segment behind you.

I’m having a glass of Pinot Grigio tonight in your honor! 😉

      Cheryl…thanks, the wine helps.

      George…really not nice at all.

Elaine…thanks Elaine, always appreciate your support.

Al…glad you got the site open….

Roxie….they could see me thru the open windows and screens. Think I will make a private sign up and get a remote controlled gate buzzer. That way when I don’t want people over they can’t get in.
Jean….my Mom is for certain her own boss…the Dr’s are very surprised.

Butterbean….welcome to my comment section. Nice to have your inputs most especially because you made me laugh and I really needed that. They were run off and will not be back here even down the road, just on the principle of things. We still need proper railing and I still am awaiting.

  2. Not nice when people just drop on by especially right after your surgery.
Now at least you are getting better by the minute!

Glad it cooled down a bit for you, it sounds like your mother has her own time table.

    Howdy C&C,

WHAT?? THE VERY NERVE OF SOME PEOPLE!!!! I’m a laidback type myself, but cold-call strangers at night, right after surgery, NOOOOO!!! I hope y’all ran’em off…. They can come back when you are recovered, with the builder or whoever; I was a home builder for over 30 years and would have never condoned this type behavior… Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I still expect courtesy from others and try my best to be courteous to others…
That is NOT a very useable railing for balancing oneself… Down here in Texas we would call that type of construction ‘clabbered’ !!! The boards your neighbor put on it helped to strengthen it…

Hope you recover quickly and your mother does well also…

Don’t think I’d be too quick to rip out there & slide down that hand railing any time soon. And yes, I have now been able to open Colins photo site. Always nice to see how pros know how to do things right & get those amazing photos………AL:))

  7. Visits at night are jarring. You’re a better woman than I; I would have stayed right where I was.
