Some progress

Somehow time ran away from me yesterday and I never posted my blog.  Colin took me grocery shopping in the afternoon.  It was nice to be able to hobble ( I used my crutches ) around and make choices as to what I wanted.  Sadly I realized I am a long way away from going out on my own. I can’t push a cart, unload a cart nor carry the groceries nor drive nor unload the groceries.  I can only put away things that are waist high.  Hopefully in another month.

I finally started pool therapy on Thursday with the hopes of increasing my mobility after hip surgery sooner than later.  Here at Holiday Park we have 4 pools.

This one is called the conversation pool as it is circular, has a bench to sit on all around, is slightly heated. Usually it is empty about 5PM and I have it to myself.

Even in the water I was having some twinges of pain. I think I will start out just every other day.

This is all that remains of my beautiful ceramic quail that I had picked up a few years ago at the mercado in Mazatlan. I was standing on the porch when a wasp tried to land on me and I lifted my hand to swat it away. Sadly I never let go of the crutch so it moved with my hand and the tip knocked over my quail. I loved the greens in it. Hopefully I will find something similar this winter.

We often just take baths and the occasional shower but do want the option of a full stand up shower so we arranged for this fellow and his wife to install a clear door on one edge of the corner tub.

He was the one who created our stained glass window so he knows how important it is to me to not block it. So far so good. I will try it today after my pool therapy. Maybe I can get rid of the special bath seat I have had to use since surgery. The door swings all the way to the right so you can still have a long soak in the tub.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend wherever you are.

Oh don’t throw out the broken pottery! I save everything like that (pretty dishes, too) that gets broken and then make or have made a wonderful mosaic piece of some sort – covering a flower pot, a garden stepping stone, a small tabletop. Endless possibilities, and you still get to see your beautiful quail. Just recycle it and it becomes a beautiful something else.

Barbara…..what a great idea but I am not that way inclined. I do some crafts but that is beyond me.

Jean….I am getting use to the clear door and it works.

George…thanks…I am working so very hard at it.

Catheline..great to hear from you again. Gracias amiga!

Colleen…it is a long road but as you say downhill, thank goodness.

The clear door is a perfect solution, it doesn’t take away at all from the beautiful stained glass. You are doing well with your rehab, you have come so far in the last month.

  3. Nice to see that you are making progress and getting yourself mobile.

You are just looking fabulous!!!! Keep up all your rehabilitation.

  5. Have patience but keep at the rehabilitation. I think it will start going faster now that you are on the downhill run.
