It was a steady weekend…

…although I did take a few hours on Sunday morning for just myself and my book. No interruptions.  Saturday was a day to cross things off the to do list.

One project was to hide these unsightly cords. Our blinds go right to the floor but when we open them you can see the mess along the bottom.

Colin came up with the idea of these removable screens. Our drapery people gave us the fabric at no charge (mostly because we had given them so much business as in $$$ ) and we found a seamstress to custom sew what we wanted for $95.00. The biggest cost was the telescoping adjustable rods which we picked up for $20.00 each. We have covered 3 window bottoms this way and now from the outside all looks neat and tidy. Only we know the secret.

We also cleaned this place from top to bottom. Colin was happy that for the first time in a very long while I helped by dusting.  That wore me out but I did manage to get my walk in as well as do my pool exercises.  We than had our neighbors over for dinner.  They live and work in Calgary so we don’t see them too often.

Colin is already a master photographer and is now working at perfecting the BBQ. The wild sockeye salmon could not have been any better.

Lyle and Karen were too busy sampling the meal to smile for the camera. We all agreed that it was the best meal ever. We look forward to them constructing a home on the lake right next door within the next few years. Sadly they left for Calgary early Sunday morning.

So Sunday Colin did photoshop all day while I relaxed and read.  Later in the afternoon we did laundry.  He did the bending and lifting for me.

Then I invented a new left over dinner. I made a huge caesar salad, added cut up cherry tomatoes & sweet Walla Walla onions and then the left over salmon. Yet another perfect meal.

Today, Monday, was a business day for me at my desk while Colin took a break from his computer and worked in the  motorhome.  We are still catching up from when we arrived end of April when our life sort of went out of control.  He was doing general cleaning and sorting.  We still have to arrange to have the carpets cleaned and then I can start loading it up.

I guess this is a new lake sport. Personally I would rather float along the water on a kayak.

It has been very hot and muggy here over the past few days.  I just have enough energy to head to the pool for more exercises.  Talk to you tomorrow.

  1. Great dinner. Looks like you are progressing nicely. I can’t see myself standing on one of those boards but my son is very keen to try it. We’re breaking records here in San Antonio for days over 100 degrees. We usually only have a few of those.

Colleen….it was a great meal. I think we are trying to keep up with your heat.

Ruth….you know it was a relaxing weekend for once.

George….thanks for all your grilling advice.

  2. Your weekend sounded more relaxing then ours. We are so looking forward to being able to have a day off sometime in the future, if not I guess we will just have to wait until the end of September to start relaxing.

We see quite a few of those standup paddlers here on our lake too, I think I would like to give it a try sometime just to see what all the fuss is about.

Looks like you are having some nice weather there.

    Ruth

  3. Nice to get those projects out of the way, and nice to see that Colin is getting into more grilling, great looking meal.
