Canadian Home Builder Awards

Colin has been doing photography for these awards for at least 20 years.  When we lived in Vancouver they were called the Georgie Awards and here in Kelowna they are called the Tommie Awards.  The awards are entered by builders, interior designers and anyone in the housing industry.  There are dozens of categories from Best Home, Best Kitchen, Best Hi-Rise Multi Family Development, Best Outdoor Living Space to Best Show Home to Best Customer Service, 54 categories in all.  Judges come and do their thing then there is a huge event to announce the Silver Winners in Novmeber with the Gold Gala event in February, much like the Academy Awards.

The gold winner in each category gets one of these.

Over the years Colin’s photography has consistently led to hundreds of Gold and Silver winners both here and in Vancouver.  This year we have decided to pay, yes you have to pay to enter each category, and enter, perhaps four categories.    Fortunately we won’t have to hire a photographer 🙂

If you are the person who enters the category you get the gold statue. Otherwise you have have to pay to get your own statue. We would have an entire library full had we done that. We are just happy to have our clients win because that means they will hire us again next year. Plus being the consistent award winning photographer is great promotion.

Because we put so much of ourselves, our time and our ideas and most of our energy into this house we have decided to enter the 2013 Tommies.  The Tommie entry deadline is October 15th.  With all his other jobs, free time is limited, so this morning seemed like a good time to make a start.  Let the journey begin.

Each category requires 8 to 12 shots. This will be our 'front exterior'.
