Yet more of the que pasa in my life…..

We finally found the perfect wasp relief.  Actually it was right there and easier and mess free.  I do appreciate all those who gave me ideas for homemade catchers but we didn’t even have a pop bottle to start with and right now with things so hectic it is easier to just buy something.

This inexpensive wasp catcher simply needs to have water added. There is a ?? chemical substance that dissolves in the water. The wasps are attracted, enter and can't escape. The beauty of this particular device is that the wasps seem to sink to the bottom with room for lots more. Not sure how long it will last but at day 5 it is still attracting the wasps and they are not coming inside the house!

I now seem to be reacting to the chlorine in the pool.  I have noticed that each time I do my exercises in the pool my skin becomes irritated and starts to peel off.  This is getting really tiring.  Meanwhile I am eating wheat but staying off the coffee. I can hardly wait for my allergy appointment on Thursday.

Colin was suppose to work Sunday afternoon and evening but it clouded in.  Instead we  ( actually he ) did house and yard stuff.  He still did leave @ 5:45PM do a small evening photo shoot.  I managed to get 7 loads of laundry done, 3 of them were RV related.  We still haven’t finished cleaning out the RV since we returned and it is almost time to start loading it again.  Just too much has happened in the past few months.

I spent most of yesterday on the phone with either family or the hospital in Edmonton.  Dad is not doing well.  Personally I believe that the medication he is being given is causing his hallucinations and most strange behaviors. It got so bad Sunday afternoon that I finally made a call to a nurse friend I trained with who works at the hospital he is at.  She will look into things on my behalf on Monday. Yes I have spoken to the nurses and head nurse and have managed to get his pain meds decreased by 50%.  My sister spent hours there today but things are no better.  At my suggestion my niece who just turned 18 will spend the night at Dad’s bedside.  Her role is to reassure him that all is well and he is safe and guarded and can just relax and go to sleep.  I don’t think he has slept since he arrived in Emergency on Tuesday.

About 9:30PM last night he was transferred to a private room, something I have been asking for since Friday.  I was told that this was impossible yet under the circumstances it happened. The good news is that he did get a good sleep last night.

One other thing, I think I broke my toe last night, well at least hurt it badly.  I dropped my cane and was moving a chair ( one of the heavy bar stools ) to get it when the chair landed on my big toe on the left foot.  The pain is constant, there is blood and the nail is split.  I refuse to look any closer or to take off my nail polish to check it out any further.  It hurts too much.  Walking is difficult but I hope that the toe will ease up as this is affecting my exercise routine.

What next?

  1. You sound like you need a really good hug, a recliner, some soft music, a couple of cuddly dachsies, and a glass of vino.

I am taking Colleen and Janet’s advice and hitting the recliner with a glass of vino, cheese and crackers and a good book.

    I agree with Colleen!

Oh man. Sure hope things turn around. Feel bad for your Dad. He seems to be in a bad way. Hospitals do strange things to people, and I mean that in the sense that some individuals do not do well in a strange bed and with strange surroundings. Of course, there are the smells of a hospital too, but that would be more representative of my own personal quirks.

Said a prayer for your dad, I hope he gets well soon. Good you have family you can count on while you are recovering yourself.

  5. Hope things turn around soon for your Dad.
You have enough going on don’t need to hurt yourself even more.
    Get better soon too.

Once Stan’s mom got out of the hospital and over her pain enough to get off the narcotics she returned to herself. Your did will, too. I think they really mess with an older person’s mind.

I agree-maybe you should leave for Mazatlan a few weeks early. It seems to be the only place you get some peace.

The wasp catcher thingy – well we put up one for flies last year here at our cottage – after a few days we kept smelling this awful smell – kept looking for what was so stinky – walked past the fly catcher thingy and got a whiff – voila – it did the job – was full of flies – but it was so GROSS!

Also remembering your dad in prayers – hopefully each day will get better for him if he gets the rest he needs. Thoughts and prayers for your body to heal, too! (((hugs)))

  8. We are like you, we couldn’t make one of those homemade wasp catchers either, we don’t have any pop bottles either! Glad that the one you bought seems to be doing the trick.
