Two hundred and fifty Canadians RSVP’ed to an invitation by the Secretary of Tourism for Sinaloa.
Sunset from the panga as we headed into Mazatlan.
There are many more Canadians in Mazatlan but there was only room for 250 of us.
It was a formal sit down dinner with lots of wine on the terrace of the Tourism building overlooking the Malacon.
Wendy Hardouin the Canadian Counsular Agent coordinated the evening. In this photo Rita Rudaitis-Renaud, the Consul General for the Canadian Embassy located in Mexico City is presenting Dr. Frank Cordova Celaya, the Secretary of Tourism a gift basket with all kinds of Canadian goodies. This was the Canadian Consul General's first trip to Mazatlan.
During the evening several Canadians were recognized for their volunteer works within Mazatlan. Here Carol Kirkwood is being recognized for her work with the Animal Shelter. She was a former RVer on the Isla but now her and her husband make their home in Mazatlan.
Canadian musician Brenster and Carrum provided the entertainment. They perform weekly in Mazatlan.
I finally got to meet Maureen Dietrich, the publisher of The Mazatlan Messenger.
As we were leaving we heard my name called. It was great to finally meet Sandy and Bob. They stayed on the Isla for a week in their RV before moving into a condo rental for the rest of the winter. We hope to see them and their two French bulldogs here at Tres Amigos next winter.
From there we moved over to the Plazuela Machado were things were swinging. This is my fabulous massage lady, Maria, who is also a hooper. She sat with us at the tourism due but left before us.
Soon I was swinging 😀 There was a great band playing in the gazebo and a variety of bands in various corners of the Machado.
The Plazuela was full of people soaking up the music.
Everyone was bouncing to the beat.
Me most of all or so it seems from all the photos.
The lovely dinner served at the tourism function contained meat ( which we don't eat ) so we went to the Plazuela for a late dinner and soon we were joined by other Isla folks who also decided to check out the action.
I have to say that it was one of the best evenings I have had in years and years.
As we headed out to find a pulmonia we just had to stop on the corner for yet another dance with yet another band.
It truly was a magical evening. Â Hard to believe we have been here a full month.

Contessa – It was great to finally meet up with you and Colin at the event last evening. Following your blog for some time and communicating about Mexico and RV’ing down here made the whole adventure such a breeze!….funny thing it felt like we already knew you “guys” so well. You too are a great ad hoc Ambassador for Mexico and Maz. Keep up the good work!
Bob & Sandy (Surrey, BC)
Bob & Sandy…..hopefully you will over here to the Isla for a longer visit. It was my pleasure to help you get down here. Just happy that you are here.
Val…..it really was the best of nights. We will do it again but that ban made the evening so perfect.
Connie….stay in Florida, much, much warmer than your home. I am amazed at my energy levels.

So great to see the two C’s having a grand night out on the town! I’m behind in reading blogs – winding up two weeks in Florida with daughter and granddaughter. Hate to think of leaving the 80 degree weather and going back to snow Tuesday. So glad you are feeling better, Contessa!
Sounds like everyone had a fabulous time. Great pictures.
Now that was a cool event! Looks like everyone had fun and they are really promoting the town. I hear with the new bridge completed, lots of commerce will be coming to Mazatlan boosting the city, employment and tourism as well.
Another wonderful evening you had, such a great time and excellent photos.
