Lively Saturday
We left the Isla at 8:00AM. Once again I was off to the dentista. I thought I would be there for an hour and she would be doing my crown prep. Instead she only put in the post and wants to let it harden for a week to be certain it will be very strong. She didn’t want any vibration around the post until the cement was set. I have to say that this is the most careful and detailed dentist I have ever been to.
With extra time on our hands we took a walk and discovered yet another Pancho’s Restaurant north of the Golden Zone.
We then caught a bus down to the Golden Zone where we did a we bit of shopping for some Mexican platters and bowls for our home in Kelowna. It was so warm in the store that I never even thought to take a photo, I just wanted to get it done and get out of there.
After spending a bit of time with the girls who let us know that they were not pleased with having been left home alone yet again we tried to settle in for some reading and guitar time. Instead we ended up having a visit with our neighbors and that was interrupted by a very rude guest. More on that in my next post. We had just settled down again for about ten minutes when we received much more welcome guests.
The first flag reads CEFA which means Centre for Fiscal Studies. The second flag represents the Amigos del Ejercito, a military sports institution created to encourage children and youth, sports and patriotism, avoiding vices that degrade the Mexican country through military discipline. Friends of the Army is a group that pays homage to Mexican youth through the Mexican Army. You can read about it here.
Meanwhile we were supposed to be heading up the beach for a farewell dinner for Lynne of Winnie Views. We had already had a Tres Amigos farewell happy hour a few days ago but a few of us also wanted to do a special dinner. So we quickly bid Carole and Gary adieu and moved onto the next event. As I have mentioned before, one needs to be at a restaurant by 4:30PM here on the Isla unless previous arrangements had been made. As it turns out we didn’t even leave until 5PM.
Now that was a very busy Saturday and you haven’t even met the rude visitor yet!

Suzanne….yups it was very sad.
Deb….good to know that they like to work slow and carefully.
I was tired just reading your post. No wonder the girls think you don’t spend enough time with them. lol
That was a busy day….. I’m glad to read you have a good dentist. Love Mexican dishes of any kind.
I have quite a few pieces at home in Ontario.
Do you guys ever have downtime? 🙂 Looks like you are always entertaining or on the go. I’m a bit jealous. Have fun and keep the pictures coming.
aaaawwww….I remember how much I teared up when I had to say “goodbye.” I can’t imagine what it must have been like for you two! Looks so “final” to see the Winnie pulling out. Soon, others will be behind her, and it will be another glorious, memorable winter gone by on the Isla!
Glad to hear all is going well with your dental work … Dr Ibarra did the same with my pin and crown. I was very impressed not only with the work but the prices.
Have a good week love the blog…
