The end of another winter season

It is hard to believe that we have spent five winters here on the Isla.  This place and the locals grow on you.  For the few months that we are here, we are welcomed into the island community with open arms.  The wonderful cosmopolitan city of Mazatlan is just across the channel and offers so much to stimulate the senses.  We love to visit the city and partake in all the diversions it has to offer but embrace coming home to the peace of the Isla at the end of the day.  Sadly we leave at 5:30AM Monday morning.

'A' is the start of a 3035 mile trek.

These are our stops along the way.

A few are long days, a few are short days and most are around 300 mile driving days.

Our first day of the trek is the longest with close to 540 miles which is why we are starting so early in the morning. Last year we did this portion in two days and stopped at Los Mochis. That is what many do but we would rather drive straight through to San Carlos.

Meanwhile we spent a final busy day.  We had our coach turned around with the car hooked up by 11:00AM as we were expecting Eric the RV repair guy for one final task.  We needed an adjustment on our awning.  We have had other RV techs look at it, but once again Eric came thru as the to to guy.  I forgot to take photos.  It was supposed to be a quiet day but with our beach walks and more goodbyes we ran out of free time.  The girls needed a good bath before we hit the road and then those left in RV 2 came over to say adios and exchange hugs. We are ready to leave but it is still a sad time.

Our site as we moved the vehicles out and before we backed in again.

Caeli is going to miss her various male friends.

We are going to miss the ever changing scenes in our front yard.

Who has a tuba walking past on a regular basis?

Who can watch a chicken being transported on a bike? Yes this is one of the bikes we donated last December. Not sure what happened to the fenders or the front basket!

As long as Carmeh is near Colin she is happy.

The Isla is as colorful as Mazatlan if one takes the time to look.

So much to see just as in the city. This fellow was stringing a new fishing net amongst the rubble.

As long as Caeli has her 'baby' in her mouth she will likely sleep most of the way home.

Adios sweet Isla. Hasta Noviembre.

I’ll check in Monday evening, once we reach San Carlos with a report on our long day.

Well, since I got all misty-eyed when you sent me off with a care package full of cookies and granola bars, I guess it is only fitting that I am weepy once again! ;-(

Safe travels, my friends…(wish you were coming closer to Tucson. I will be there in another few days.)
