What else are you going to do?
We enjoyed our quiet Saturday but knew more rain was in the forecast. So just before supper Colin and I went to the storage compound, here in the park, where we store our RV. The plan was to move it to a friend’s empty site for two days in order to flush the tanks and to clean the inside. Hard to believe that we have been home a month today. When we arrived we simply emptied the RV and put it back into storage and it needs to be cleaned. Once that is done we will get it fumigated once the weather warms up and then bring someone in to clean the carpet.
Before we could move the RV we had to actually try and get inside. I did all the laundry when we got back and kept sending things back to the RV and Colin just piled it all into the doorway. Plus we had stuff from two basements inside. We still ended up getting our basements wet coming home. Last February while in Mexico, we had Eric do some fiberglass work to stop the basements from getting wet. We have spent a lot of time and money getting this repaired to no avail. There were several attempts when the RV was new and under warranty but a permanent solution has yet to be found. So when we got home Colin emptied the basements to the inside of the RV and left the doors ajar so the compartments could dry out.
It took a while but we were able to finally make a path to the drivers seat and start the engine. It was being moved less than a mile so things did not need to be secured. Got it backed into the site with no problems. We managed to get it all done between rain showers. Then our neighbors came over for a quick glass of wine. They were planning on staying here until Tuesday morning but with nothing but rain in the forecast they told us they were leaving this morning and so they did. Seems a shame to drive all the way from Calgary for just a few nights.
By the way all the rain has led to the appearance of those dreaded mosquitoes. Even the dogs are getting bit. Not fun.
Meanwhile our RV is happy to have everything put back into place and to be be clean again.
One more thing, for those of you who want to get a wind sculpture similar to ours, Costco has one “Made in China” for about $50.00.

Having just about the same RV as you I am curious to know where the basement compartments are leaking? I have never had that issue and can’t seem to think how that could happen. Is a water connection in the plumbing causing the issue or rain?
Hola Chuck, yes, our RV is almost the twin to yours but it is a year older than yours. The worst 2 compartments are the ones just behind the front tires. The wet is a direct result of the rain when on the highway. I’m sure that you very seldom drive in the rain due to where you live and your travels to Mexico. Colin says that the difference between our RV and yours is that our basements are made by screwing the aluminum plates together and caulking whereas yours are welded together. Ours have leaked since the day we imported our new RV into Canada as it rained that day. Eric, our part time Mexican RV tech thought he had found the source of the leak and repaired it. Obviously the water is getting through somewhere else. We aren’t giving up and will check it out again next winter.
Hope you are able to figure out what is causing the basements to get wet.
I think we are starting to get the rain you just had. Yesterday was beautiful and the first part of today was better than they said it would be but by late this afternoon the rain and wind started. We feeling sorry for the campers out for the first long weekend of the season.
Well Kevin…the good news is that the sun is on it’s way along with warmer temps. I always feel sorry for the RVers who only have a weekend for fun and it is miserable and rains.
Spray the outside back at all corners and seams with that rubber sealer that is sprayed on, I have tried it on other things works great, home depot or lowes has it.
Or you could buy my RV it is for sale for $53,000.00
Chuck, thanks for the tip. Why are you selling your RV? For anyone reading this….that is a fantastic price, worth much more that that price.
Colin says that maybe we should by your RV just for parts….
Good luck with repairing that leak.
George,we have had that leak for 13 years now and I doubt that the source will ever be found. We even had the RV undercoated twice while under warranty and it didn’t help.
We have not seen one of our ants since about a week after we got home. Maybe our BC climate is too hard for the Florida ants so they packed their bags and left. I will put one of Norma’s half finished candies on the bedside table and see if that attracts them. It always worked in the past.
Sounds like a plan Croft. Sugar should bring them out. We haven’t seen any critters either but we will spray in case of eggs.
