Melting snow packs and rising water
When we got back home just over a month ago we had a beach. Now half of our stairs down to that beach are under water.
Lots of debris coming down the stream from the mountains.
Early morning when the lake is calm the water is murky.
Our beach is gone and the first two steps are under water.
We never used to have any pieces of wood on the rocks. I don't mind it, it looks natural. We really should have a good four feet more of rocks. Day by day more are being covered.
The dog fence we have up keeping the girls from escaping is slowly being covered.
That is a big one....
...it will likely end up on someone's beach down the way or crash into the beaver's lodge.
The third step is under water now.
With the lake so high, it seems that anything on the water is almost level with our living room. We seem much closer to the ducks and geese as they paddle past.
This evening we noticed that the lake seems to have actually gone down one inch. Hopefully it will keep getting lower even though there is still a lot of snow up there. We aren’t worried but have been keeping an eye on things.

Connie….the water is no longer rising.
Robert….yesterday we could see most of the 3rd step and this morning ( just went out in my PJ’s to check ) it is about 3 inches lower, so maybe down 6 inches overall. Don’t know where is is going, I guess the stream at the far end is slowly moving it out. Good news.
the water on my side of the lake went down at least 10″ what about your side
Although the water is rising, it’s a beautiful sight. I’d love to kayak on that water. I have to tell you that I found the Red Guitar (2011) on sale at Walgreen’s for $7.99. I tried a bottle, and I’m going back for more – it’s delicious! Thanks for mentioning it!
Cheryl….what a great find. Here it is $13.99. We have government run liquor stores in BC and so no deals to be had. Just had a kayaker out yesterday with a pink kayak and yellow paddles and she was wearing purple. Very colorful.
Marty…I do hope those people don’t get flooded. Such a worry every spring.
The water is rising here, we had such a heavy snow pack this year. But the East Gallatin river is a mile and a half from us, so we’re not likely to be affected. Can’t say that for the folks that live closer and built in the low spots!
