Murphy’s Law
Sadly Dad is not doing too well in hospital. His lungs have filled with fluid and my sister claims he is worse than when he went in. I am getting repeated calls from my siblings who live in the same city updating me. Meanwhile, as Dad’s Power of Attorney, the time has come for me to do some business for him and I’m not fully prepped. I have spent hours online and on the phone with his bank in the past few days. Unfortunately Dad neglected to put me on the joint account that Mom had shared with him and this is creating a problem. You would think that if I have the POA and Mom is no longer with us that I would have access to the information on that account. The assistant manager whom I met last fall is away until Tuesday so I have to wait until then to complete what needs to be done. I am also researching better investments than he now has.
My phone never stopped yesterday about this and that and I wished I had two phones to use. It was crazy. I’m glad it is the weekend and don’t have to deal with these folks until Monday and Tuesday.
Colin kept trying to call me and all he got was voicemail. Finally I was able to call him back. He was having car problems. The dealer couldn’t figure it out.
We just got a call, something to do with all the air filters and a broken oil tube. He is on his way to exchange cars and his is good enough to drive without the broken piece being repaired. We have to wait for the part to come in. Meanwhile they say that his car is okay to drive to Vancouver on Monday, if the sky is clear.
It is so good that we are willing to pay the price. I’m sure you’ve heard the expression “to die for” . No potatoes or quinoa last night, just the salmon, lots of veggies and a salad. However by the time we had soaked the cedar plank and marinated the fish and prepped the veggies it was late and we only sat down to eat closer to 8:30PM. But by then we were relaxed and were able to savor a delicious meal.
Just had include this shot if Carmeh I took first thing this morning. Our girls sleep with us and lay like little humans. They even use pillows.

I think I have to make a trip to Costco. Or to your place.
Croft, I like the idea of you coming down here for a visit. Meanwhile get to Costco asap as that salmon won’t be there much longer.
Sure was good and I’m sure you guys enjoyed it too. Oh the pains of getting older and then those that have to take care of us. But, that is the cycle and someone has to do it. Hang in there, enjoy the weekend. Monday will be a good day.
Chris…..it was great but not quite as good as the one we shared with you. It certainly is a cycle, taking care of a parent who took care of me as a child. I can’t even think about who will care for me when the time comes but I don’t worry about it.
Nancy….I just had to take that photo 🙂
Longdog…I knew you would appreciate that shot…as to Dad, one day at a time. It’s just frustrating not being in the same city.
George…..we are using more and more and always think of you when we do.
Love the pillow picture.
Sorry to hear your Dad is not doing as well as you hoped. Hang in there. Loved the pillow picture!
Nice to see that you are making good use of your Weber Q.
Doggy/pillow photo is cute! Sent it to my 3 year old grand and she had a good laugh – said oh Mammaw that is soooooo funny!! You made her day – TKS!
Hoping this coming week goes better for you. Prayers for your dad, too!
Oh Connie, I am happy to give you granddaughter a laugh. Not sure if you noticed but Carmeh is covered up with the sheet and quilt. Appreciate your prayers.
ha, ha, Luci sleeps the same way…. unless it is really cold then she is fully under covers…. they are a never ending sense of delight!
Dolores, how cute. Good to know there are more special dogs out there.
