A wonderful start to 2015

January 1st got off to a roaring start with the annual RV Park Polar Bear swim. Well you can clearly see where the sun doesn't normally shine on Brent's body.

We watched but did not participate nor did we indulge in the vodka and orange juice served to warm everyone up following the swim.  Instead we did our normal morning beach walk.  We are still doing the half carry and half walk thing with Carmeh.  A reader who is a vet suggested that we try getting her to swim using a doggie vest as that would be good exercise but there is nowhere to get a vest like that here.  As long as we keep her from doing stairs we will be happy.  She has been off anti inflammatories since Christmas Day and she does not seem to be suffering.

The girls have found something in the sand.

A sand dollar. Our first gift of 2015. I later found a very tiny and fragile sand dollar. So very special.

We got back to the RV to find that our 3 tier hanging fruit/veggie basket had fallen. It had finally rusted out. So Colin, clever man that he is, devised a new hanging basket from a panel of our dog fencing 🙂

The first day of the year seemed to be the appropriate time to re plant my kale and swiss chard seedlings. Of course Santiago the plant man still has not shown up so I was out of soil. Clever girl that I am, I planted some extra seedling throughout my flower gardens.

Colin spent quality time with some of the guys.

The last sunset of 2014 on the Isla.

The first sunset of this new year was shaping up to be a beauty.

This beauty spent New Years Eve and Day in our wee cove.

Who are these sunsetting good looking folks?

Wow, I wonder what the rest of 2015 will bring!

A great end to the first day of the year. Buen provecho!

I have a 13 year old with arthritis. We used to swim our dog a lot more but swimming is only a sympathetic motion for dogs back legs. The work of swimming for dogs is really done by the front legs. So in addition to our dog’s arthritis/pain meds, the biggest part of her “prescription” is to walk everyday. You can still swim, but it is only in addition to the walking to get those back hips moving. If you don’t use it, you loose it the doc says. Probably true for all of us.

  3. A wonderful way to start the new year, just keep on having too much fun.
