Another Baby Romina Update

Everything is falling into place for Romina and her trip to Los Angeles to get a new arm.  For those new to my blog you can read about how I became involved here and here and here.  The best news of all is that thanks to you dear readers and some RVers and others here on the Isla we have raised 7000 pesos plus were gifted with a corporate donation of $300.00 US.  This is in addition to the 5000 pesos the family raised themselves. Well done everyone.

Romina has been seen by a Shriner MD and approved for surgery in Los Angeles as soon as she gets her US Visa.  That is in the process right now.

This is the document that is going to fast forward the process.

This is the document that is going to fast forward the process.

David Perez, one of the owners of Tres Amigos RV Park, has been given the funds and will oversee the distribution of same.  He intends to be sure they get the best price for whatever needs to be purchased.  David is quite concerned about the family traveling by bus as they could easily be swindled of their money and could become lost in the system transiting the border, not to mention various bus connections.  In this case flying would be the right choice.  He intends to find the best price possible for airfare as well as approach the airlines directly for a special price due to the circumstances.   If anyone in Mazatlan has the connections to get this done, it is him.

Meanwhile he is paving the way with the US Visa application as well as providing accommodation for the family in Guadalajara where the application is being made.  As soon as the Visa comes through, Romina and her family will be heading directly to the Shriners Hospital in LA.  David Perez is worried that the family may be overwhelmed by the big city and not feel comfortable.  So he has made arrangement for his brother to meet the family at the airport and to bring them to his own home for a few days until the family is comfortable with the accommodations provided by the Shriners.  Likely he will watch over them during their stay.  It doesn’t get much better than that.

Obviously Romina has many people watching out for her.  I see a bright future for this wee girl.

Hola Lynne, yes is it very kind of David to get so involved. Af first he wasn’t interested but perhaps when he saw how much money was raised he stepped it up. Regardless his input is vary valuable to Romina and her family.
