Our palm had a new baby. This leaf is huge. In a few weeks it will tower over the others. Hard to believe I was able to buy this tree three years ago for 150 pesos.
Our veggie guy, Isreal, gifted us this very large and extremely tasty avocado grown on his own organic farm here on the Isla.
Sorry the photo is not clear but this foal just happened into the park and was about to jump the fence into our yard. It wanted to join the rest of the horses and it’s Mom who had passed our site ( on the other side of the bougainvillea ) on the way to the beach and the way home for them. However it was just so eager to run that it missed the road and turned into the RV park instead. I put my hand up to it’s face and was shouting NO, turn around….finally it did but it was difficult to focus and shoot the camera at the same time. For a moment I really thought that it was going to leap our 36 inch dog fence and come straight at me. There is always the possibility that the horse might try to jump down to the beach from our site which could result in severe injury so we really try and keep them on the right road.
I guess you might say that I scared the sh*t out of it. Yup that little mess was left right outside our gate.
Loved these fluffy colored clouds the other night at sunset.
Homemade nachos the other night. We had to use up some of that delicious avocado. That was dinner, no need for anything more.
Woke up to a very dense fog the next morning. We could not see the ocean from here. However as the sun rose and heated the air up the day became crystal clear and hot. This is one of the warmest winters I remember here on the Isla.
There is a new baby in town, well here on Stone Island at least. It looks very very young, possibly only a day or less old.
I don’t know much at all about horses but this baby has large patches of thick fur or ?? all around it. What made me wonder if it was a newborn is that the fellow herding the group was being very patient and carefully guiding his herd. Normally they are allowed to trot to wherever they want to and usually it is up in that green berm behind them but this day they were expected to stay on the beach and close together.
This beagle has been adopted or rather he adopted himself to a visiting Canadian family. He has been going up and down the beach loudly baying for attention for several weeks now and seems to be very sociable despite being very very vocal. He apparently belonged to someone near the embarcadero who did not look after him. So nice to see him being cared for. Is this the start of his harem? This guy really just wants to have a home and lots of love.
The blue arrow shows where the sun was setting when we arrived on December 8th. This was taken a few days ago on the 20th, look how far to the right the sun is now setting. Time does not stand still, Make the most of each and every day.

WoW! Crazy huge avocado! Hmmmmm – the new baby doesn’t look so good the poor thing. Maybe because it is so young. Cute beagle – hopefully he finds a new home!
Hola Teresa, been following your progress North. I’m not too sure about the foal either. Maybe someone will know. As to the beagle, there is a couple from Quebec who just took it under their wing, but will they bring it home with them?? Next time I see them I will ask.
Lovely photos from paradise (as usual). 🙂 I hope your neighbors adopt the beagle – he looks like a keeper!
That horse could very well hurt itself jumping over the wall onto the beach, good thing that you caught it in time.
Thanks Cheryl and yes I hope so also. I think they even named the beagle.
I have to say George that I was a tad frightened standing nose to nose with that horse. Even though it was still young it was eye to eye with me and big.
Drooling over the nachos!
Hey Chris, as yummy as it looks. I promise to make it for you next time we meet.
