Murder in Mazatlan

Yes we have Murder in Mazatlan in the form of an interactive murder mystery dinner theatre.  What did you think I was referring to?  Colin and I and a few friends partook in this wonderful evening in early February.  Sadly my father passed away shortly thereafter and I was delayed in posting about the evening.  Everything you need to know about this new and wonderful addition to Mazatlan’s must do activities, including reservations can be found by clicking here .  The most important thing to know is that it is truly entertaining and the dinner is delicious.  For about $28.00USD you get two drinks, a three course meal ( with several choices of an entree  ) and a fabulous whodunnit to solve.  It plays until the end of April in Centro on Monday evening and in the Golden Zone on Tuesday evening.

Sitting with friends between acts and discussing who might be the murderer.

The play happens all around the diners so everyone sees everything.  An exciting aspect of the evening is that you can be part of the action.  You can play a role in the evening or you can just sit back and try and figure out who is telling the truth and of course enjoy the laughs.

The storyline revolves around real life people and locations in Mazatlan. Here my friend Renee plays Debbie Rodriguez, the owner of Tippy Toes.

Our meal was gourmet. The salad served for the first course was the best I have had anywhere in years.

I bet you didn't know that I had a wee bit of actress in me.

The only thing different is that the Monday evening show is now at El Fish on Olas Altas.

The writer Bodie Kellogg promises an entirely new subject matter for next season’s dinner theatre.  I for one can hardly wait.

Ha! Well, you had me! Too funny….. It looked like a great time although I would be way too shy to participate. I would definitely be the one sitting back!

I thought that title might get some attention 🙂 It was so much fun. After saying I would participate I was nervous but after the first few words it was exhilarating. You do get a piece of paper with your lines in large print. I will do it again next season for certain.

  2. We have not been to a dinner theatre for years, love them. Always a great times.

But this had a twist in that the audience was part of the action. I just love any kind of theatre, even the play readings they have here at El Recreo.

Oh Nancy, how horrible. You both must feel so violated. Thank goodness you have your passports and I assume your airline tickets. I hope they left you clothing. Poor you, no computer and all that information, phones and cameras as well I assume. Hope they didn’t get too much cash. Thanks for letting me know. Now I know why you haven’t posted on Trip Advisor. Please send me an email when you get back to the US. I wish there was something I could do to help. Hopefully you have friends in Puerto Escondido that can help. Please stay in touch when you can even via the blog as you have just done. Sending you hugs and thoughts of strength.

    Contessa,
what a lovely post to see. You know that it was great to have you and your friends playing roles on that evening. Amusing also for each of you to get some votes as the murderer. Very suspicious!
Yes Bodie and I are very busy writing the next show now. People love the current show, My Big Fat Mexican Murder, and of course we are keeping in the idea of lots of twists and turns and new characters and additional stories on top of the mystery of the murder, and also the very successful role-playing by guests, which adds a greater aspect of fun for the role player, their friends at the table, and everyone else as well. But as an overall, the next one, because we have learned so much from this show, is already better! Exciting.
In addition, we are jotting down thoughts for our Christmas murder show. Yes, why not?
So we look forward to having you all back, and enjoying once again your involvement.
Thanks, Bodie Kellogg and Wendy Kain
