My first cherries of the season from Frank’s Orchard. Could not find my usual orchard and stopped here. A bit more than I am used to paying for @ $2.00 per pound but very tasty indeed. Plus Frank went across the lane and picked this wild flower for me.
He says that he loves wild flowers and so do I. He has them all through his orchard.
Sadly we have yet another wild fire very close by. This one is right next to Hwy 33 ( which Chris & Juan drove on last year ), too close for comfort. Many homes have been given an eviction notice.
Just a bit ago on HWY 5 aka the Coquilhalla, a car fire closed the highway as yet another forest fire was ignited.
14 new fires started today. Hey everyone, be careful out there.
It is up to us to make sure these fires do not happen. Yes there are some caused by lightening but here in this area, we are talking human caused right now. It is hot and dry out there.

Stay safe!
Thanks Dodie.
I know how devastating bush fires can be – and you guys have tornadoes right through the Centre of the country – we can never understand why these region’s don’t build underground – like they do here in the Opal fields…but that is for gigantic hot weather…cooler underground. ..
Interesting concept. Would love to see those Opal fields one day.
Enjoy those fresh cherries and be safe from those wildfires.
Lots of smoke here today but that doesn’t affect the great taste of the cherries.
OMG, yes we went on that highway. I remember it well as we were listening to the radio about the Moncton killer. Beautiful drive too. Climate change?
I just read online that they thing the fire started from a tossed cigarette. 151 homes are evacuated with 148 others on standby.
