New fire across the lake & stuff
Colin went to take the girls out and called me outside. Smoke and ??? I called the local fire department. It is a new fire just across the lake. We had an electrical storm pass through last night and had 60 new fires start. One, also close to us has 80 homes on evacuation alert. This one was new as I wrote this post.
Breaking news….this is in regards to the fire I saw and reported.
I just went outside to let the neighbors know what was happening and we saw the sky light up.
Meanwhile Colin is off at 6:00AM to do photography at 7AM along with a film crew flown in from Toronto at Predator Ridge. They will be facing the fire with their first shoot. Smoke ??? Who knows what they will be facing! First shot is supposed to be yoga @ 7AM with a lake view.
The plan is for Colin to be gone from 6AM till 10 PM. However we have no idea how this latest fire will impact his day.
It is late and we must go to bed. No new info on the fire. We can only hope for the best but with it starting so late it was too dark for any aerial water intervention.

Good luck with the fire missing you, hopefully it does not come around the lake.
Actually back 2003 the fire did come around the lake and we evacuated in the RV. Colin mentioned last night that we should have the RV ready to go at a moments notice.
OMG fire’s are so shattering to communities – but the people power is so uplifting and supporting – it helps folks to survive but the experience never ever leaves you…P.S.- never trust Kangaroos. ..check out their toes & hands – bad mood – ripe u to pieces..bad buggers.. run wild here…ruined may vehicles on the roads …smash up front of cars hopping across the roads….
Fires are devastating. We had friends who lost everything a few years ago to a fire including all their business info. I believe they only had 2 minutes notice to evacuate. They are still fighting the insurance company as they have no records to prove anything.
The kangaroos we saw are all pets who have been socialized. I heard someone say that they have 2 who are used just for breeding and kept out of sight as they are nasty critters.
We had two small fires start in Comox but I think they put both out right away as were right in town – so scary. There is a sprinkle in the forecast though – fingers and toes crossed. I hope the smoke doesn’t louse up the photo shoot.
No sprinkles in the forecast here. Just heard from Colin, the smoke is bad but they got the first shoot done. Now he will be working inside till 5PM. Hopefully things will have improved.
You sure know how to take care of Colin! I would have gotten a peanut butter sandwich!
Good luck with the fires.
I have to feed him 3 meals plus. He puts out a lot of energy and with no breaks for 16 hours he needs all I give him.
The fire grew to 175 hectares overnight and we have strong winds. I see the planes out their doing what they can but nature in not being helpful at all. Now we have a new fire near Naramata that the winds are pushing the flames towards the town.
Such a cute/darling picture of you and the girls asleep!!!
Thank goodness Colin got a good shot of us all 🙂
