Picked these up at the farmers market this afternoon. Nine freestone peaches for $7.30. Time to find an orchard to purchase from.
For Colin’s birthday I had purchased an apple pie and ice cream as well as the lemon meringue pie. Both pies were delicious. However Colin did not like the after taste of the ice cream.
At 7:30AM today we left the ice cream in the sink to melt with the idea to throw it away. Here is that same ice cream 12 hours later.
It shrunk less than 3/4 of an inch but did not melt.
Pure chemicals and plastic. Garbage 👿

Oh thanks! That is the brand I have been buying because I thought it tasted like it had real cream in it!
Pure plastic Croft. You have to read the rest of the comments I received.
I saw an ice cream maker at a thrift store the other day and was tempted to purchase it. I hope Colin had a wonderful birthday…
Nice to see you back here Cheryl. Fortunately I don’t eat ice cream much, just Colin and yes he did have a lovely birthday. Thanks for asking.
It is sickening, the amount of crap we eat without even knowing it. This needs to stop.
I totally agree. We eat much better in Mexico than we do here.
Those are some expensive peaches sure hope they were good.
I like to check the ingredients on most of the food stuffs I would buy. Bryer’s with the Black Label has much more natural ingredients.
I have only had the one peach thus far and it was not sweet. Darn. More on the ice cream quality below.
Wow, expensive peaches, lick every drop of juice from your finger tips when you prepare them. 🙂 We use a lot of oranges – yesterday they were 69 cents each and even more if you bought by the bag! How we miss the oranges and especially the tangerines we get in Mexico – the best ever.
That ice cream is scary!
I have to say that I was shocked at the price. I don’t remember paying so much last year. It won’t be hard to find an orchard to buy from but yesterday I was in the store and the peaches were there and oh well! Lesson learned. I have always found oranges expensive in the US. Best oranges ever in Mexico 🙂
OK, had to write about the “ice-cream” (I use the word loosely!
We used to love Breyer’s when it was actually ice cream.
I particularly loved their vanilla fudge twirl.
But the last time I purchased it and was unpleasantly surprised at the flavor, I
realized the container didn’t actually use the words “ice cream” anywhere
on it anymore.
They have started using fake ingredients to make some kind
of “dairy dessert” that is far removed from actual ice cream.
Check it out, and you’ll see what I mean. See how many brands
at the store actually say ice cream. Some still do, like Hagen-Daz
and Ben & Jerry’s as well as other brands.
But a lot use “weasel words” like “frozen dessert” or “Ice Dream”
(this happens in fast food restaurants too) that are your first
clue that what you are about to consume is not actually ice cream.
Gross that it didn’t even actually melt completely. Yuck!
Welcome to the comment section of the blog Tina. I so appreciate this comment.
You are so right about ‘dairy dessert’ and the rest of it. The container was half empty when I put it aside to melt and to dispose of and none of it melted. It was like glue. Colin had had some the night before and told me to throw it out as he did not like the aftertaste. Sadly, I was the one who had consumed the junk. Worst case is that I had screwed up and bought the wrong brand. I was trying to surprise Colin and picked the Beyer’s in error. He prefers Chapmans, thank goodness. I am not a huge ice cream eater mostly because I would rather drink my calories ( wine ) than eat ice cream.
Thank you so much for educating me as well as my readers. Most appreciated.
You need to try Chapmans icecream and frozen yogurt – best ever – a little more expensive (it is on sale regularly though) but the absolute best tasting ingredients. It has ruined me for all other icecream. Plus – they are Canadian!! Family owned company that totally burned to the ground about a year and a half ago but kept all their employees there until they rebuilt. The kind of tasty company you like to support 🙂
Guess what I screwed up! When Colin read your comment as well as Tina’s he told me that he never bought Beyer’s ( he is the one who does the ice cream buying ) but that he really liked Chapman’s. I will never ever make that mistake again. Thanks for the inside info on the Chapman company. Nice to support a company with ethics.
Hi
Contessa, there is a great YouTube video about Walmart great value ice cream sandwich.1 1/2 hour in 80 degrees sun and did not melt.makes me walk past their brand.
Gulp. Well I hope all those who read this blog will have been educated on ice cream. Thanks for sharing.
I like homemade Mexican ice creams. I never buy store bought ice cream. Tastes funky.
Exactly! Mexican ice cream is the best!
