We are being gouged at the pumps
Gas pumps that is! While fuel prices are down mostly everywhere we have been going up and up the last few days. We were holding steady at 124.9 for a few weeks and then it was 136.9 and finally down to 135.9 today. Big deal!
Why are we paying more than almost every area of Canada? Can anyone explain it to me? Shouldn’t the prices be going down?

I think it was $1.29 here on the Island today. I didn’t need any, just drove by.
That’s what I mean. We here in the Okanagan are being taken to the cleaners.
Wow, first time I’ve ever seen anywhere be worse than the average price in Quebec! Quebec is usually the worst, then BC. Assiniboia is apparently at 121.9 now, up from about 117.9 the last time I bought fuel, and higher than Quebec. I think the end of the world is nigh!
I’m going to fill my tank when I go to Montana on Friday. Even with the exchange rate being the way it is, I’ll save $20.
Here in our are of BC we are always the highest in the province. I want to know why. Vancouver should be the highest. Lucky you and your US gas.
It has also increased a lot where I live in Indiana. I paid $3.19 for Premium the other day. Two months ago it was $2.71.
But is shouldn’t be increasing. So why is it?
I’m not sure why it’s increasing. It is reported they have more supply than demand, thus some layoffs in North Dakota that are in the oil business. In my case I read where a local (within the state) refinery had some major problems and to expect price increases.
In my small town, all 3 stations have identical prices, always. The town 10 miles away is .10 less per gallon.
Most of our journey out west will be inexpensive (relatively) for fuel. But we have been waiting a long time for this trip so will just bite the bullet and do it.
Gasoline price will not come down, regardless of the price of oil.
Too much debt held by all levels of govt.
Govt will increase tax to cover cost of services. Green initiatives cost money.
In the future a fee/levy/tax on miles driven is possible.
The consumer does have a choice.
Drive by four gas stations in our area in Langley BC and you will see four different prices. Also the am price can be different than the pm price. Crazy thing is we are usually a couple of cents cheaper than Surrey.
Amazing, since we are having record low prices, and the price of oil is steadily dropping. You wonder what makes one area more expenses than another. Could it be taxes? We feel more comfortable now driving further distances with fuel prices so low here. We plan to make a short venture into BC, over by the Shuswap, in a week or so, but we’ll fill up before we go.
Checking Gasbuddy.com, San Antonio has gas for $2.08. When we were in Canada last summer, Langley, BC was the most expensive between Vancouver and Ottawa at 1.51 per liter. Unbelievable. I think it’s a game and nobody really knows what it’s all about. I’ve heard about lack of refineries, oil prices, and speculation. This winter we are going where there are low fuel prices so it probably won’t be Mexico at $3.65 a gallon for regular unleaded.
San Antonio is nice!
The largest refinery in the Midwest is out of commission temporarily. Its in Chicago, and it has caught fire several times also. Our gas went from $2.30 to almost S2.80. DownSouth or far east is not as affected.
Gas here is $1.12 , but seen it as low as $1.04
you have had a busy summer , us too
been renovating our house since we arrived June 1st
finishing up inside now , then have lots to do outside , which is better when the weather cools down
