Mexico, at long last

Sadly anything I have to write is preceded by the horrid news coming out of Paris.

We made it over the border with no issues. At KM 21 we had a 25 minute wait because there were 13 people ahead of us in the Immigracion line but there were mostly going into the free zone so we were totally done within an hour.

a bit of bumpy road before Santa Ana and then some construction. For a minute we thought we were in the Baja, such a narrow road with no shoulder.

Saw this guy a few times through the day but never got a side shot of his truck. Basically he has put high things along the outside edge such as the chaise longue on the back left all the way around and just piled stuff in the middle. I give him a gold star for creativity. How else would he have got so much stuff in his truck.

Finally some fields of grape vines, the promise of things to come.

An accident just before Hermosillo. The policeman in the photo got angry with us as we were not moving forward fast enough, hey you can only move so fast on a dime.

We did get to Totonaka RV Park about 3PM in San Carlos, Sonona.  Once settled I turned on the computer to be sure I had the correct password for their wifi.  Sadly I did.  Yup it is Friday the 13th, news that a friend I have had since kindergarten died from cancer, worse still  my youngest sister fell and broke her knee yesterday and she just got off disability in September, and our fan parts never arrived but will sometime next week.  I will have to call to get a refund on the rapid shipping fee we paid.  Thanks Micheal for taking care of this for us.

Next I wanted to check my Telcel SIM card in my ATT Hot Spot device.  Well it seems that my device has become locked although for the past two years, perhaps three, I have used it in Mexico, the US and Canada with no issue what so ever.  They are now telling me that what I had was not legal…so after an hour I gave up and the battle will continue next Monday.  What that means is that I will not have internet after tonight.  Hopefully once we arrive on the Isla we will have internet.  If you don’t hear from me Sunday night you can be rest assured that we have some serious issues.

Also within an hour of arriving here in San Carlos we discovered that our RV engine is needing extra oil.  So far we have added 2 liters and Colin has checked with our heavy duty mechanic back in Vancouver and they think it is normal.  Meanwhile we will keep an eye on it.

My Fitbit  died for no reason…..grrrr.

Earlier, the day quickly became overcast which was great for traveling, no heat.  As we came closer to Guaymas there was much lightening in the sky but mere drops of rain.  Of course Carmeh heard the thunder and is unsettled as I write this.

While I stayed in the RV wit ATT on the phone for over an hour, Colin took the girls to the beach.

Colin says that they went wild and just ran around in happiness.

I missed this, thanks for taking the kids to the beach and for the photos mi amore.

But tomorrow is another day……sorry I won’t be able to post.  Perhaps I will manage to get two posts in on Sunday…stay tuned 😉

yup I had to get my phone that I had been using in Mexico for the last 2 years unlocked as well. It seems up until now they have just been able to bypass a locked phone here but with some changes that telus and telcel made this year they can’t do that any longer. Good news…..if you call telus they will unlock it for you now (for a fee of course) . I managed to do it online…..I think, I will go back in to maz today to get a new sim card and see it it works now.

  5. Love it there at San Carlos. Enjoy the rest of your journey.
