Poco a poco…

…little by little.  We are getting things done, sometimes quickly and often times slower.  The temperatures are higher than normal.  We are averaging about 87F midday with 68% humidity.  Mostly we live outside and with no A/C which makes it rather muggy while preparing a meal but the ocean breeze is so refreshing that once outside, out of the sun, conditions are perfect. We do have A/C but no sense in running it when we live outside.  Often during our morning walks we wade in the surf to keep cool.

The girls are adapting well.  We have been very careful with Carmeh and only doing about 50% of our normal beach walk.  She has days where she has more energy than others but over all she is happy to be here.  Caeli keeps trying to escape the yard and is always first up in the morning yipping at us to get up and out onto the beach.

As you can see most of our stuff has been put away. You will also notice that my plants have almost doubled in size.

Our shade canopy is up and our front palm is finally growing.

I bought an induction cooktop this year and so far we have used it twice. I find it difficult to know what temps to cook things at. So far it seems like a good purchase.

Bonus......a couple came in a few days ago with some freshly frozen shrimp. 150 pesos uncleaned with heads on. However both ourselves and Marjorie and Bob wonder if it was actually farm shrimp and not ocean shrimp as we were told, it was rather bland.

However both ourselves and Marjorie and Bob wonder if it was actually farm shrimp and not ocean shrimp as we were told, it was rather bland.  As you can see I use a complicated cleaning process with lots of rinsing.

Thursday evening was another nice sunset.

That is Maria from The Canexican going out on her paddle board.  She had hoped for as great an evening as I showed on the last post but it was not to be.

Ken is heading back to RV2. You really can't see but he has two West Highland Whiter Terriers in his back seat.

It was also the day to spray paint a few things. Rust is your enemy here in the salt air. We try to sty on top of it.

It was a bit of this and of that type of day Friday.  Not many photos were taken.

Bob & Marjorie dropped by for drinks at sunset. Guess who was wearing this shirt?

  1. Oh! Stop it…LOL you lucky ducks…there has to be something that is awful? ?? I don’t love seafood enough to clean & peel it…I think I would rather make a sanga . ..perhaps I’m just LAZY LOL

Cleaning the shrimp does take time but usually it is well worth the effort. I guess I could say that the mosquitoes have been a real biting pain this year, mostly because of all the rain they had the month before we arrived.

Do you notice any damage on your motor home from the salt?

    • Contessa says:

From this area near Mazatlan, not really. We have had salt damage from when we were in the Acapulco area for several years, the surf was pounding and sent the salt spray over our heads. Our interior hardware has become corroded as well parts of the overhead A/C, etc. We have not been aware of any damage here in Mazatlan. Part of the RV renos was to replace hardware within the RV.

I’m happy for you 🙂 Nice pictures! Relax and enjoy! Maybe we can sit around the fire one night and just listen to the waves.

  5. Just settling in and enjoying the beach, I know you will have too much fun.

Oh I’m so envious! Though within a year I’ll be in Mexico for good (the good Lord willing). Needless to say I’m counting the days….

I see you have a rebounder. I just bought myself a Bellicon and though I’ve had it several months have not gotten into the disciplined routine of using it. I must. It was a gift to myself after much research, and exercising is (will be) a gift to myself as well. How do you like using yours – and do you do specific routines or just bounce for the cardio?

Gracias for the info. Enjoy your days and sunsets!

How wonderful for you to be able to live here full time. Where about in Mexico are you planning to live? We use the rebounder just to jump and get the lymph moving and anything else that might be sluggish. We also have an inversion table outside. Inside the RV we have our vibration machine which we cart back and forth. The other two pieces stay here in our bodega.

I’ll be in San Miguel and once settled there will begin a lifelong adventure of travel to other places in Mexico. I’ve never felt closer to God anywhere on this earth than in Mexico. Re the rebounder – I’m sure I will begin with just jumping. I should’ve started this years ago – but at least I have one now and could/should (!) start today. (The less I do the less I do, and the more I do the more I do. Unfortunately I’m in “less” mode right now. )

        • Contessa says:

A lovely location to settle into. Perhaps we will visit you there one day. As to the rebounder, I do suggest that you start out with gentle bouncing, keep your heels on the mat. After a few days you can progress to jumping a bit higher that then mat and then higher yet. Sometimes I jump and do splits 🙂 Even just a minute per day is effective.

Oh – and when you say “vibration machine” do you mean like a chi machine? I have one (“Chi Machine” brand) that I’ve had for years but don’t use it near as often as I should. As with anything it seems – I go through periods of being faithful to it and then for some reason slack off until months have passed without using it. Yet it feels so refreshing when I do….
