Two of my hibiscus are under attack. Hopefully it won’t spread to my ten other hibiscus plants. It took me a while to figure out what was happening.
Where did my flower go? First the stamen disappears then a while later a few petals are missing, until the entire flower is gone.
Colin and I both did a good deal of research and iguanas are impossible to get rid of. One site suggested a trap. The best we could do was hope that the critter would go thru the saran wrap to get the flower and would become trapped. It likes to sit on the wall in the background and of course is much too fast to catch by hand. Our trap never worked.
Ishmael, our handyman suggested catching it in a fishing net.
That only served to slow the iguana’s consumption rate. Anyone have any other ideas.
Not easy to see my iguana but that is its green head in about the middle on the right. It just slithers through the mesh of the net.
So the battle continues. I lose a few flowers everyday 😥 Nothing I can so about it.

I think he believes he has found and wonderful restaurant and isenjoying himself.
Good Luck !
Sadly I have to agree with you.
I’ll give you the same advice given to me by an old local when I asked how do I get rid of the moles in my yard. He told me 19 years ago, to grab a lawn chair, a six pack of beer and my pistol. Better than any trap. 🙂
If I drank the beer I certainly would not be able to aim. This guy is super fast and disappears on the slightest movement on our part. Besides, can you really see me shooting a gun, never!
the best you can do is wait until your plants are tall enough that he can’t reach anymore and move them away from a wall or ledge. I have given up on growing a lot of things due to those guys.
Yup it is only the plants near the wall that are being snacked on.
Sounds similar to the problems that Croft and Norma have with the deer! Hope you can figure something out, in order to stop him/her.
Me too.
maybe a few drops of hot sauce will make them not so tasty or cayenne pepper sprinkled on the blossoms???
Brilliant! Will try that tomorrow.
