A trip to the vet & a wedding

Last Saturday was our bi monthly trip to the vet to get the girls anal glands looked after.

They love an outing and this one involves travel by car, by boat and by pulmonia. Cute reflection the in mirror.

While there we asked the vet about Carmeh’s hearing issues and asked if he would check her ears.  We think she has been responding to our voices a bit here and there and thought it was wise to check her ears.  It turns out that her right ear has a heavy build up of wax that is totally blocking her ear canal.  The wax build up in the left ear is only partial blocking the canal.  The vet recommended that we apply 3 drops of Epi Otic in each ear daily for 10 days.  Hopefully it will help.  If not we will get her ears flushed when we get home and she is under anesthetic to have her teeth cleaned.  Yes we could get their teeth cleaned here in Mexico for a fraction of the cost we pay back in Canada but if we won’t get our teeth done here we won’t get the dogs teeth done either.  I don’t want to take a chance on the anesthetic.   I expect many negative comments on that last statement but over the years we have seen more people with problems from dental work here than good stories.  I have to add that I have never heard of any dogs having issues.

Happily heading home.

The botanical gardens behind us were the location for a very high end wedding Saturday.  The path was lined with baby’s breathe with a holder for a lit candle between each plant.  On the outer edges of the flowers was a long row of soft lighting.  We later saw that a large generator had been brought in.

At the end of the path was a small meadow where chairs had been set up for the ceremony.

It was a gay wedding for two very high end women here in Mexico.  One of the ladies was the owner of a National TV station.  It was obvious that this was an extremely high end wedding never before seen on the Isla and possibly Mazatlan.

A special ride to the event. These folks came across from Mazatlan by lancha.

The wedding party never came down to the beach for photos so we never got to see them.  Not their style I guess.  Special lighting could be seen lighting up all the palms within the gardens, a most romantic setting.  The music was superb..  Yes there was Banda but a very tasteful group and not loud.  There was music by the symphony and a variety of other bands and many vocalists obviously flown in for the occasion.  Colin and I agree that this was the best music we have ever heard at a wedding and possibly anywhere else.  We could have listened to it all night.  The next morning some of the locals were telling us that Ricky Martin had performed.  He might well have done but online it seems that he was on tour in Argentina 😉   We were also told that Julian Alverez has performed, we have no idea.  Enough to say that the music and the variety of it as well as the many different vocalists were magnificent.  We felt like we were at a concert.  The fireworks just before midnight were outstanding.  Fortunately we only had to raise the blind on the window at the head of our bed to view them.  Then the band played on, last I looked it was past 3AM but we were not disturbed at all.  It was a delightful experience.

The sunset the bridal party missed last Saturday.

Sounds fantastic and everything looks lovely. Just think you got to enjoy the wedding music and fireworks without having to bring an expensive gift, lol.

  2. Sounds like a pretty high end function there on the Isla.

Seems like the Epi Otic might help with Carmeh’s hearing if she has been responding to your voices off and on.

I love the pic of the girls’ ears blowing in the wind on the trip home. 🙂 And of course, the sunset with the palm leaf in the foreground.
