Things needed to be done so we left the girls at home and headed out to the big city and our first trip across the channel this season.
We weren’t certain but it did look like this load of possibly scrap metal ( but really it looked like dirt ) was being loaded onto this freighter. Where were they taking or possibly dumping it?
A local fisherman had told us that due to the extreme heat of the ocean that there was no dorado ( mahi mahi ) to be found and that shrimp were also at risk. So once we got on the Mazatlan side we stopped at the fish market.
She had dorado! It is the white fish on the left in the metal pan. So we bought 1/2 kilo of fillets for 80 pesos hoping to pick it up in 4 hours on our way back to the Isla. She was closing early and we had to take the fish now so she packed it in a bag with lots of ice and we carried it around with us for several hours. The ice melted and leaked out of our cold pack bag. The fish did remain chilled and was alright when we got home. We are having it tonight.
Next stop was the Freeman Hotel were we purchased our tickets for the firework display during Carnival in February. This is the view from the 10th floor office. That tall hill in the background is the Isla. You can see the shipping channel just to the left, that sliver of silver water where we come across. The RV Park is just behind the hillside.
If we lived here, this would be my ride. Love the color of this personal pulmonia.
After a quick stop at the Panama Bakery we walked through the Plazuela Machado where it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. We were on our way to purchase our symphony tickets for the season at the Angela Peralta Theatre box office.
Our next stop took us to a second Panama Bakery where we ran into Carol and Bill having lunch. We chatted for a bit and then moved on so they could enjoy their meal. We made plans to get together next weekend.
We did a flurry of shopping at the mercardo where Colin got three shirts and I purchased three of my button and pocket sundresses. Of course we loaded our bag with pineapple, papaya, chihuahua cheese and other delicacies. We had a late lunch at Tony’s Burgers…….what else but a shrimp burger. Thought of you Chris and Juan.
Last night.
So good to be back here.

Oh wow, pure bliss…
What is Chihuahua cheese? Beautiful sunset! Christmas decorations just don’t have the same effect for me in hot climates.
So after Colin wishes to retire from your business….are you thinking of moving to Mexico with the pooches?
