Stop the madness…
…Boom, boom, boom and repeat and repeat.
Someone at the North end of the beach is having a party. We are only hearing the bass at about 10:30 PM….a long night may be in the works. I saw many tents being set up just a tad North of us, looks like a large party tomorrow. Life is always interesting on the Isla.
Carmeh is doing better day by day. She has finally started to drink water on her own. I am having trouble finding Famotidine/Pepcid for her. I found 40mg of Famotidina today but only 40mg which means I would have had to divide that pill in eight. Pretty much impossible. So I reached out to blog reader Patrick who is on his way here to the Isla. He will arrive January 1st and will bring me a few months supply of the over counter drug I need for Carmeh. Meanwhile when my supply runs out in six days I have a neighbor who has some Pepcid that expired in 01/2011 that she gifted me that I can use. It should still be good to a certain degree.

I’m so happy to hear that sweet Carmeh is doing better. It sounds like you have everything under control regarding the famotidine. I would bet that one of the larger Mexican drugstore chains would have it in a lower dosage in Mazatlan. One of the best things I ever bought was a pill cutter that has a razor blade inside – works like a charm!
*The typical dose of famotidine administered is 0.25 to 0.5 mg per pound (0.5 to 1.0 mg/kg) every 12 to 24 hours. If push comes to shove, you could probably use the 40 mg and score it 4 ways.
I know you are ultra careful about what you feed your pups, but I was pretty sad when I could no longer give Cali any treats. I’d usually give her one when I left the house, and one on my return. However, I found out on the K9Kidney list that many people give their pups Nabisco Nilla Wafers. I use the low-fat type and they make my best girl really happy!
I’m doing a “balancing act” with trying to adjust Cali’s diet to a low fat, phosphorus, and protein. However, I think we finally found the “sweet spot.”

What I found was from the largest Mexican pharmacy chain. A 40 Mg tablet would have to be divided in 8 to give her her 5 mg dose twice per day. I am good with what I have till Patrick arrives.
I am using the Charlie Bear treats which are only 4g for fat but the girls have not got any for a week now. When they get them, it is a max of 7 per day each which is not a lot of fat nor calories.

So glad to here that Carmeh is doing better. My dachsies are just as happy with a piece or two of their regular kibble as a treat. That is what Harley gets since he was diagnosed with a really tiny liver and is on a special diet.
