Our February calendar page. Carmeh looks so sophisticated with her arm on the sofa.
Last Tuesday we saw our Mazatlan chiropractor. Dr. Terry is retired ( from the Seattle area ) and lives here about 4 -5 months per year.
His table has about 20 different levels that adjust ever so slightly so that when he adjusts you, you don’t feel anything.
He lives just two blocks from the Playa Sur embarcadero so we use that one. We are now heading back to the Isla. That is a very large tuna boat in port ahead on the left.
Not sure what the issue was but the shrimp boat was being escorted back into port.
We are repainting our RV staircase and it seems that our choice of color was a tad bold. We, well actually Colin, has now completed the second coat. Just waiting for the paint to dry. The color has grown on us.
Our girls have very different personalities including how they eat. Caeli tends to almost lay down while eating. She doesn’t play much and will always sit or lay down on the beach each time we stop to chat with someone.
Whereas Carmeh always eats standing up. She also is always on the go, playing with her toys and would never even consider sitting on the beach. She is always active especially on the beach.
I had a photo of my newly sprouted kale and swiss chard pots but can’t find it. Anyway, they are now ready to eat.
The plan was to make smoothies most days, but I don’t have the time with all I am doing for Carmeh.
So I steamed them and added them to a meal. Very tasty. I have 2 other sets of pots on the go so when I use all of greens from these pots then I will have another set ready to go and then yet another set ready when those are done. For those who must know, we were having Caesear salad, salmon stuffed phyllo, the greens and a baked potato with way too much sour creme.
Carmeh has had a good couple of days. So far so good. A wonderful blog reader who has given me much great advice over the past few years, suggested I try and get the Metronidazole in a liquid form. I did that today. However despite the fact that it says it is 30% sugar it is the most horrid tasting medicine. I had just the tiniest taste and my mouth retained the bitter taste for several hours. Even wine would not change the taste 😯 Carmeh only needed 5ml which Colin gave her and he said that she fought him. He is the one who gives her water by syringe when she is dehydrated so it was natural for him to take on this task. It was a nice break for me to not have to struggle with her. I gave her a few extra small pieces of chicken as a reward. This morning I had broken the large pill in two and bribed her with a treat before and after each half. Still a struggle. But I am confident that this medication may make a big difference. We are still only giving her pinches of the antioxidant but in increasingly teeny amounts. I forgot to mention that about a week ago we also reintroduced the probiotic to her diet. We are being most careful to only introduce one thing at a time for about a week before adding anything new.
So tomorrow is chicken cooking day, anyone want to come help?

Just curious, is the more sedentary dog prone to gain weight faster than the active one? Glad to see you are seeing some improvement. They both have beautiful fur coats.
Yes Caeli gains weight very easily and we feed her a little less. However she does the same beach beach walk every done including some running but it doesn’t help. I think she has a low metabolism like I do.

I love the color of the paint for the steps and I bet it is even more beautiful after the second coat.
Do you remove all fat before cooking the chicken for the girls or is it removed from the top of liquid after cooking? Don’t know which would be better but sure you have learned which is the best way for them. Especially enjoy all the good day with the Girls and all the other ones, too.
We get to start using the steps today, it seemed forever waiting for the pain to dry. Next we are going to repaint all our plants pots, a terracotta color.
As to the chicken fat, the breasts we buy at the mercado have very little if any fat on them. The bit that I see I cut off and after boiling them there is hardly any fat on top of the water.
I have been down this road twice with horrible tasting medicine for my babies, have you tried the plain empty capsules from a health food store? In essence you get a pill type capsule that you could put the medicine in. It has no taste and hides the scent, so perhaps would go down easier, any health food type store or a pharmacist might have them. They saved my sanity when my last little guy was fighting cancer. Thanks for the tip But I think it would be too big for her, she gags at the tiniest 1/4 pill of pepcid. We are getting better at it each time and now only have 5 mores doses to go.

Liquid metronidazole still has a bitter taste-hard to cover it up. I can get it down an unhappy cat using a dose syringe. Sorry Carmeh, it just has to happen. For future treatments, look into metronidazole benzoate. Flavorless.
