Does anyone know………
….about the stamp Colin got on his passport?
We normally drive the RV into and out of the USA and border agents do not stamp our passport. On his recent trip back from Canada to see his Mom, his passport was stamped at the airport by Homeland Security with an arrival date into the US. Included into that stamp was a date that he has to be out of the US. When we cross into Canada in a few days how will the US know that he has exited the country? We pull up to the Canadian border and are processed into Canada but not out of the US.
Any thoughts on what to do about his US stamp? Do you think it is okay to just ignore it? Will it be a problem next time we enter the US?
I tried to do a post last evening about our last days in Vegas but spent 2 hours fighting with the internet here are the RV Park in Ely. We left Vegas yesterday morning and have now have some ver long driving days ahead of us. Will try to post tonight.

From what Randy read, it should rectify it self when he enters Canada
Both sides are now sharing information , before they didn’t
the reason they are sharing the info is to keep track of how many days you are in the US
which is currently 183 but possibly changing to 8 months

We get those stamps when we fly home for Christmas and have never had a problem. As the comment above states both the US and Canada can see all your crossing dates in their computers.
Nancy is right. Your passport is scanned when you enter Canada and that information is shared with the US. Just be careful if they ask Colin, “What date did you leave Canada?” or, “How long have you been out of Canada?”. His answer will be different than yours.
What everyone says. Everything is computerised and shared now. CBSA also gets information from Mexico, btw.
The only time I’ve ever had a US stamp in my passport is when coming in on a plane.
They don’t have to stamp your passport but sometimes they do. 2 years ago they stamped our passports when we arrived and then put a stamp underneath it that showed what date we had to return to Canada. I guess they just want to advise you that you only have 6 months in the states. They haven’t stamped it since.
We lived in the USA when my Mother taught Dentistry down in Texas for 3 years.
We had a similar experience and we actually went over the the USA side of the border before coming back into Canada and got them to straighten this out. This was back over 3 decades ago,when computers were non existent. What if you ask the Canadian side to stamp the passport with the entry date back into Canada on the same page or near the same page as the American Stamp with the departure date. Just a thought, I hope this helps.
