Seven years ago today
May 28th, 2010 is when I first created this blog. I originally tried to post every day, that was my intention but life tends to get in the way. Many bloggers are retired and I am not. Soon I hope, at least one more year. Here is my first post. It is easy to go back and read my older posts if you are interested. Of course I had very few readers back then but month by month my readers grew. Now I have no idea how many I have other than that it is a lot, a huge bunch of you. Almost every week I get an email or a comment from a reader who has been following me for a while and finally made a comment for the first time ever. That is so special for me. I was stunned a few weeks ago to get an email from a reader who had been with me since the beginning or close to. She doesn’t live far from here and was the one who offered to take us and our RV in during the flooding. Fortunately we did not need to take her and her husband up on their hospitality but we will for certain make a point to meet them later this summer.
I love it when you comment for the first time or after a long period of silence and so appreciate those who comment on a regular basis. It is inspiring to know that someone is out there reading what I write and hopefully enjoying the photos. I think I was a better writer way back then but now I do the best I can due to time restraints. Not to mention that since 2011 I have had to endure many health issues, family problems and recently the loss of our beloved girls. This blog has been a great way to record all of life’s major events as well as the day to day occurrences. I often go back to find out what we were doing on such and such day.
You my dear readers have helped shape my thoughts and my destiny with your comments. You have kept me going. I’m not sure that I would have made it over certain hurdles put before me without your inspiration. I appreciate each and everyone of you. It has been so much fun to meet many of you. That has happened mostly in Mexico and yes I love it when you just show up at our site on the Isla to say hello. Emailing ahead and setting up a meal here or there is also special. My most favorite is walking down the street in Mazatlan and having someone stop us and ask if I was Contessa.
Who knows what the future will bring? But we do plan to stat traveling more next summer so I just might pay a visit to some of you.
Thank you for being there with me through all the ups and downs. I think of you as my family.

Congratulations Contessa. I’m glad you decided to blog.
Congratulations! You are a pleasure to follow.
Congratulations, Contessa, I have and do enjoy your blog. Thank you being so sharing and helpful to other RVers.
Congratulations on your 10th blog anniversary, Contessa!! ((Hugs))
I was never good at math…..it really is only 7 years. I revised the post.
Ten years of blogging has done you good, it’s a good way to keep a diary while informing others of places to see and do. Your blog is great! Please keep going…
Thanks Peter. It has been only 7 years but sometimes it feels like 10 years. Suzanne caught my math error.
Your photos, particularly your sunset and beach walk photos, have been a joy and pure art. We hope to see many, many more of them and hear about more of your and Colin’s adventures.
We so enjoy your blog and beautiful thoughts and pictures!!
Isn’t it great that you and I aren’t retired yet we have the opportunity to travel for months at a time every year. That’s the best of both worlds. Blogs give people ideas, hope and fulfill their dreams while they are busy with everyday living and may not have the possibilities to do what others do. Blogs got me into rving and traveling, I couldn’t imagine my life without, as one person says, my imaginary friends.
Such a lovely comment. Gracias.
Always enjoy reading your blogs Contessa. And am glad when we meet up either on the way to Mexico or when we are both around Mazatlan. Each year when we come home we wonder if we’ll make the trip down the next winter. Friends like you and many others we have in Mexico keep us coming. Bill will be 81 when we make the trip this winter [I’m 2 years younger than him – but won’t say my age!] But we are already making plans – El Quelite for breakfast?
Hi Contessa, I have been reading your blog for several years. Keep up the great work and photos. Cheryl – North Carolina
I guess I’ve been hanging around for a while too. (Not my actual website) but anything on an IPad is such a pain.
It’s amazing (scary, maybe?) how time flies. I started back in 2008, although My blogging has been falling by the wayside lately.
Take care.
Bob
As you know I have been following you from the very beginning. Writing and posting a blog is enjoyable and very rewarding . Glad that you were able to get i up and running , Happy Anniversary, 11 years of posting for me and great to be able to look back. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for writing your blog, I so enjoy reading about your adventures and I love the pictures.
We enjoy your travels and seeing places we’ll probably never get to see. Totally seems like we are there with you. Love seeing it through your eyes and thoughts. Looking forward to your travel log of your great trip ahead overseas. Thanks for taking all of us with you!!!
I REMEMBER THE BEGINNING AND ASKING IF THERE WAS A BETTER WAY YOU COULD WORK YOUR PHOTOS IN AROUND YOUR WRITINGS. IT SEEMED DISJOINTED. YOU WENT TO CLASSES AND LEARNED. I THINK THE APPEARANCE EVOLVED AND BECAME MUCH BETTER FLOWING AND EASIER TO FOLLOW. YOU HAVE DONE A FABULOUS JOB OVER THE YEARS. I DON’T EVEN WAIT FOR YOUR EMAIL NOTIFICATION BUT CHECK IT EVERYDAY. SOMETIMES MORE THAN ONCE A DAY. CONGRATULATIONS CONTESSA. IT’S LIKE HAVING A FULL TIME JOB AT TIMES, I AM SURE.
Hi, Have wondered, at times, how long I have been following your blog so followed your link to the very first post and now I have read all of 2010 and will continue reading until I get to the month and year I think I started. What fun!
Traveling mercies for your upcoming trip.
You are so very special and I am so fortunate to have you in my life. I have your lovely piece of Mexican glassware on my kitchen window sill and think of you and Rex on a daily basis.
Many hugs,
Contessa
