Que pasa
Our home insurance renewal is coming up on August 7th and because of the extensive flooding no new policies are being written. Of course we wanted to add overland water insurance to our policy and there is no way that will be happening for a long time. Hopefully this next winter and the one after will revert to the normal mild temperatures with little snowfall that this area is known for.
I have been much more creative in the kitchen lately and we have had some wonderful meals. Nice to have the time to try new recipes. Even nicer that I can fly through the kitchen making a mess and know that I have a sous chef to clean up after me. He even cuts, slices and dices for me and is a great pot stirrer. However I was floored the other day, actually I was shocked. I needed two carrots for a new recipe and popped into the local supermarket and picked up two medium large carrots. The cost was exactly $1.00. One dollar for two carrots, ridiculous. So today a neighbor comes back from shopping at Costco and asked how many carrots I would like as well as celery and lettuce. She doesn’t use all she buys and doesn’t want it to go to waste.
About a year ago while I was waiting to see if I had cancer or not I began to enter a variety of contests online. It was a mindless thing to do at the time. I do get a lot of emails related to what I have entered but I also enjoy reading about new things and at the moment I am mostly getting info about travel and all the discounts that are out there. Trust me, there are a lot of great deals and we do plan to take advantage of them. I mean who wouldn’t want to fly to Dubai for 7 days, air and hotel, some meals and some tours included for $800.00 USD, taxes included. Likely we will do it one November while enroute to Mexico. We could just park the RV for a week and fly out of Los Angeles. Or we could fly out of New York. So much to look forward to. I just found out that I have actually won a contest.
Having just finished posting about Venice I am not ready to start thinking about the fall. I feel that we have been on a merry go round ever since we got back from Mexico in April. Non stop action.
Colin has spent much of our long weekend getting our yard back to normal. The flood displaced many things in our yard from our lighting to the rocks that form the edging of our patio and slope down to the beach. Meanwhile I have been catching on blogging, so glad that Venice is done other than a financial recap. My desk work is close to being caught up. I look forward to some free time to relax with a book and for us to get out on the lake in the canoe or our kayaks.
I also just discovered today, thanks to a blog comment by Shelagh, that I can get Limoncello locally. Life is good and will be even better once I purchase a bottle.
Meanwhile the ground water continues to rise in the park with new areas being added. The walking paths along the gardens are under water and now some of the gardens are beginning to be flooded. When will it end? Or will it? All of this is a reminder at how powerful Nature can be.

Wow, you are a winner…..but I already knew that!
As I continue to read through your early posts – I am now at February 3, 2012 – and the quote by Bernice Beard – I love it – I want it on a wall in our little RV because it fits me perfectly. Although I have come across a few post I remember I have not reached the place where I started reading your blog everyday but I will find it soon. Thank you for the many hours to devote to your blog and what a wonderful travel history for you and Colin to have.
You are so very sweet and to be going back and reading everything makes you even more special my dear friend. I had to go back to February 3rd, 1012 and read that post. I loved that post and the words still hold true.
Nice to see that you have the time now to enjoy life a bit more, much nicer than working all summer long.
Well I might not be doing business work all summer but I will be working at something or other.
Unfortunately over land water was only just added and may have never been available next to your lake due to proximity of a body of water. I guess you just have to hope for the best. Congrats on your win, although that is the reason I only enter certain contests so that I can actually accept the darn prizes, too bad they limited the date. You might consider asking them if they would extend it by a month or two so you could take advantage of it.
I have tried everything that you suggested but to no avail. Who knows we many still be able to use it.
As to the overland water, one of our neighbors who was evacuated did have it.
Just go to the BC Liquor website and search for limoncello and three bottles come up from $27.99 to $30.99. Then ask for more info and enter your postal code and it will tell you which store carries the bottle you are looking for and how many bottles they have in stock. Pretty nifty.
Your parade looked like fun. In our complex it was great to see how many neighbours put up flags. One fellow a few doors down started it and we have a huge flag so up it went. Then day by day it grew by leaps and bounds.
Enjoy your day, cheers
Thanks Shelagh, will check it out tomorrow.
Hello,
Enjoy your blog very much.Just wanted to tell you I found Limoncello in Commercial / Mega store in Mexico last winter from Italy for oh so cheap $7.00 canadian. We were in Manzanillo however they usually all carry same stuff.
Take care
Heather
Welcome to the comment section of my blog. Thanks for this very special comment. We only have one Mega in Mazatlan, hopefully they will have it.
